Because he would never lie to them to try and win their approval or obedience. His mission was a peaceful one based on love and devotion to his god.

The Gospel of Judas is a Gnostic gospel which is why it was not included in canonization. Gnosticism is a false doctrine that the early church had to fight against.

In regards to the question, Jesus stated His earthly mission throughout the Gospels. If Christ had not come to save mankind from sin, then He would have come to set up His earthly kingdom. It's obvious that Christ did not intend to do so. He knew that people were looking for a political figure, but He came to save men's hearts instead.

He did say it.

The disciples just seemed to never understand what it was he was saying. When Peter FINALLY caught on, he acted like he was going to stop it. That's when Jesus rebuked Peter. Jesus HAD to die. It was the only hope anyone had for salvation.

Jesus was the only one who could do it. He was the Messiah, foretold for centuries. It had to be him. He was in God's mind when the order to observe the Passover was given. Jesus was the Passover lamb. That's why sometime you may have heard someone reference to him being the Lamb of God. Those in Egypt for the first Passover had the angel of Death, an executor of God's Wrath, passover the houses that have the blood spilled to cover them. Those that did not have the covering lost their firstborn.

All this is saying is that God told everybody what was going to happen, over and over again in many different ways. All those that become aware of it can only do so if God has invested His interest in them.

The crooks behind the bible (and koran of course) want you to know that the next edition of the new testament will have a few verses in which Jesus will state, loud and clear his mission so people like you could no longer point out the obvious-religions must go. To hell.

He had a hard enough time explaining mustard seeds, and the eye of a needle. Much like the people we meet in life, everyone had a preconception of the fate of the messiah, that typically fell into the four groups. None could dream of the passion, much less believe it.

I asked a question recently, about the crucifixion, whether it was a sin or not. I couldn't believe how many said that he wanted to die, he needed to die, he was born to die, miserably. But that's ok they said. I could almost hear the pagan chanting, "Kill the beast!"

In Matthew 13, Jesus was asked why He told so much in parables. He spoke figuratively and obliquely at times. Still, John 12:23-24 and 32-33 says, "Jesus replied, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds....But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself." He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die." There is also Matthew 26:1-2 that is explicit in His saying that He would die, "When Jesus had finished saying all these things, he said to his disciples, "As you know, the Passover is two days away—and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified.""

In speaking of why, in John 15:12-13 Jesus said, "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." This was said in the context of chapter 14 where He told His disciples that He was going away. John 16:5 (same context and setting) says "Now I am going to him who sent me" and then in describing how the Holy Spirit will work after He is gone, Jesus says (verses 12-15) "I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you."

The disciples were not equipped to hear and record the details at the time. They were devastated when Jesus died. They heard Him, but they didn't really fully believe Him until they saw Him after His resurrection. Jesus said other cryptic things, most elegantly in John 3 to Nicodemus. It is there, but you have to look and the words are not direct quotes, but then that is why He said the Holy Spirit would work in people to tell the story as it needs to be told and when it needs to be told. For the most part, Jesus didn't just tell it, He lived, and died, and lived it.

His mission was to bring the word of God to man.

It was only when he was on the cross, that he looked up at heaven and stated ..."Forgive them father...they know not what they do".

In saying that, Jesus took the sin of the world upon himself, thereby giving man a way of saving his soul for all eternity.

John 3:17
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

By accepting Jesus as your savior, and repent of your sins, and invite Jesus into your heart and life so you are born again. Jesus had to die on the cross as the sacrificial lamb of God in order for us to obtain salvation and eternal life.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

John 3:36
36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

When He said just prior to his crucifixion "If I be lifted up, I shall draw all men unto Me", He was saying that His death on the cross would bring about a means of salvation. This word draw is like the pulling in a tug-of-war. He was predicting that He would win the tug-of-war with Satan for the souls of men.

You don't understand the scriptures. His mission was to atone for the sins of all God's children on condition of repentance. His resurrection provided resurrection for all of us. His suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross was the spiritual atonement for our sins. This means that we can be forgiven and return to God's presence if we repent and accept God's laws and commandments in our lives as Jesus taught them to us. If we reject the teachings of Christ, then we will suffer for our own sins and not receive the benefit of His atonement on our behalf. Christ did what His Father sent Him to do and made it possible for us to return. It is our choice and the exercise of our agency that will prove the fulfillment of that atonement.

Christ didn't have to, everyone else was saying it. Many times. Also, Christ did say it, in the Garden of Gethsemene, when he prayed to "have this cup lifted from him if God willed it," meaning he was "afraid to die." However, God did will it, and Christ died the next day as planned in the prophecy. You see, Passover was celebrated since Moses day, as the "Lamb of God" that was sacrificed and the blood used to save those of God's Children from the Angel of Death. This "lamb" was in foretelling of Christ. Also, Christ himself stopped the demons that he "ran out" of LEGION and into the swine from SAYING who he was and why he was there, because he didn't want people to know. ONLY the Sheep of God would be separated from the Goats and not one more, so if your not of good heart, your heart can never be receptive of Christs message. Period.
