This is easy. Is the camera worth more than $1000? If so, take it. If not, take the money. Than you have the option of buying the camera and having money left over.

would only buy nikon or canon for $1000. So, with those 2 choices, I'd say the $1000.

I'd much rather have the thousand bucks. If I got a camera, I would want one of those really thin ones they have these days.

i would rather have $1000, then if i decide i want a digital slr camera, i will buy one for $600, keep the rest.
