Report it to the police, animal shelter, your Doctor etc. no animal (pet) is worth the safety of a person. What if it attacks an infant next. Something that small would probably not survive.

WOW.......I am sorry to hear this. I could not keep a dog that has attacked my children. I might would deal with a snap with some very strong discipline towards the dog. Only if the child was older like your are and only if it never happens again. No bites, no, no, no!!

What has gone wrong this dog? Something must have happened in order for it to turn on it's owners. Why do they not want to get rid of the dog? A good dog will not bite the hand that feeds it.

I don't want to encourage you to call the police on your parents but I must admit something has to be done. Do you have a close relative you can go to, a grandmother or an aunt or someone?

I would be terrified if I was forced to live with a dog that bit me in the face. Get yourself a baseball bat and carry it around the house, if the dog comes near you. wave the bat and the dog will move away. Your parents have problems and issues.

I hope for the best for you and I hope your mom and dad, especially your dad, who has been bitten, will soon get a clue!!

If the dog is aggressive, them I would get it out of the house. If the dog has attacked someone for any reason other than self defense or protection, then it needs to be put down before it really hurts someone or kills someone. I don't know what you can do, ou probably don't want to call social services on your own parents. Maybe you can tell other adults you trust and have them talk to your parents and try to convince that this situation is essentially a powder keg.

JD, your parents are VERY wrong, I would have had that dog put to sleep in a heartbeat had it attacked my kid, or anyone for that matter!

I was going to suggest that you tell them either they get the dog out, or will call the police, animal control and child protective services. You ARE in danger and the dog needs to go.

I cannot understand why any parent would put their child in danger, this really ticks me off!

So this dog has attacked you, and your dad and someone else? Call animal control and to hell with what your parents think or do or say when you do! But if it gets bad, please call the police and child protective services. Or leave if all else fails.

I am sorry this has happened to you nobody should have to be in fear of anything in their own home!

Hell no! We had a dog we loved, but attacked a pup we brought home several times and drew blood. My son was going to have a daughter in a couple of months so we made the decision to surrender the dog to the shelter. Sheila never ever bit me or our family but had become possessive and aggressive towards children and other dogs. Not sure why but she had to go. There is nothing, no dog, no reason to keep an animal that you cannot trust. I have never gotten rid of an animal before but there was no question. Sheila was a shepard mix and it was very unexpected. Maybe a medical reason, but whatever, she had to go. Can you imagine if she attacked our granddaughter? My son would never forgive us, and we would never forgive ourselves.

Most likely NOT. But I would give some very serious thought to keeping the dog in a kennel outside. I would really need to know every single detail of the circumstances in order to make a decision.

If a dog has serious aggression issues, which
include biting and drawing blood on people, he should be put down. Drawing blood on other animals could be explained away, but drawing blood on people is never explainable.
The family should insist that your Mother has the dog put down by a vet.

My children (if I had any) would definitely come first. I wouldn't allow the possibilty of them being hurt. If the child was old and experienced enough to know how he/she should behave around animals, that would be different. But even then, dogs can be pretty unpredictable at times. Especially if you don't know what signs to look for.

I'm sorry for what happened to you. I feel once a dog has turned they have to be put down! The dog is no longer safe, and if he attacks someone else, you may have a lawsuit on your hands.

uhmm what kind of question is this.... of course I wouldnt, actually how would you keep an animal that has already attacked its owner??? thats why you always teach your dogs to respect who is in charge so they wont suffer later on in life or put down.
This is a dumb question.... NO NO NO dont ever keep an aggressive animal, specially near a kid.
