No one has the slightest physical evidence to support a historical Jesus; no artifacts, dwelling, works of carpentry, or self-written manuscripts. All claims about Jesus derive from writings of other people. There occurs no contemporary Roman record that shows Pontius Pilate executing a man named Jesus. Devastating to historians, there occurs not a single contemporary writing that mentions Jesus. All documents about Jesus got written well after the life of the alleged Jesus from either: unknown authors, people who had never met an earthly Jesus, or from fraudulent, mythical or allegorical writings. Although one can argue that many of these writings come from fraud or interpolations, I will use the information and dates to show that even if these sources did not come from interpolations, they could still not serve as reliable evidence for a historical Jesus, simply because all sources derive from hearsay accounts.

Hearsay means information derived from other people rather than on a witness' own knowledge.

Courts of law do not generally allow hearsay as testimony, and nor does honest modern scholarship. Hearsay provides no proof or good evidence, and therefore, we should dismiss it.

If you do not understand this, imagine yourself confronted with a charge for a crime which you know you did not commit. You feel confident that no one can prove guilt because you know that there exists no evidence whatsoever for the charge against you. Now imagine that you stand present in a court of law that allows hearsay as evidence. When the prosecution presents its case, everyone who takes the stand against you claims that you committed the crime, not as a witness themselves, but solely because other people said so. None of these other people, mind you, ever show up in court, nor can anyone find them.

Hearsay does not work as evidence because we have no way of knowing whether the person lies, or simply bases his or her information on wrongful belief or bias. We know from history about witchcraft trials and kangaroo courts that hearsay provides neither reliable nor fair statements of evidence. We know that mythology can arise out of no good information whatsoever. We live in a world where many people believe in demons, UFOs, ghosts, or monsters, and an innumerable number of fantasies believed as fact taken from nothing but belief and hearsay. It derives from these reasons why hearsay cannot serves as good evidence, and the same reasoning must go against the claims of a historical Jesus or any other historical person.

Authors of ancient history today, of course, can only write from indirect observation in a time far removed from their aim. But a valid historian's own writing gets cited with sources that trace to the subject themselves, or to eyewitnesses and artifacts. For example a historian today who writes about the life of George Washington, of course, can not serve as an eyewitness, but he can provide citations to documents which give personal or eyewitness accounts. None of the historians about Jesus give reliable sources to eyewitnesses, therefore all we have remains as hearsay.

I am actually appalled and disappointed in the answers that are on here coming from so called christian people- with Christianity comes tolerance and compassion to those that seek truth, which I see very little here. Something to think about before you want to be short and intolerant on the next religion question.

Adam and Eve were the first sin of mankind which has spiraled into the lives we have today. All sin is anything that falls short of the Glory of God in the laws that are set forth, the most common sin; lying. What many people fail to understand is that ALL sin is equal in the eyes of God- we on earth have placed for instance murder a much more serious sin than stealing or lying. These things are hard for us to comprehend that ALL, lying or murder, is equal to God. We ALL fall short... so, there was a sacrifice made of God's son; Jesus Christ that allows for complete forgiveness through repentance.

It's not knowing of God that will forgive you... it's accepting the deity of God, recognizing that God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one, the understanding that you will be NOT forgiven unless you accept that Jesus was crucified so you may eternally live. His blood washed your sins and that through your repentance which means not to only recognize your sin, but to turn your back on the wrong you have done and live according to Christ may you see the kingdom of heaven.

In this, all sin is forgiven... as you forgive others, God will also forgive you. Forgiveness is to forget... once forgiven there is no record of wrong. God does not forgive sins you know are sins and continue to make. REPENTANCE. you are forgiven when you are truly sorry within your heart of the sin.

First of all we are forgiven for our own sins. We can't ask for forgiveness of someone elses.
There are consequences to ALL sins. From Adam and Eve to your own parents. There are consequences long down the road in life.
I don't know any other way to put but as I have. We are forgiven for OUR sins, when we ask and truly mean it.
Good luck in finding the complete answer to this question.
God Bless

The sins have been passed on from generation to generation and look at all the teens, and other people, they have sex before marriage, they kill, they do drugs, and they do other things, but if you ask for forgiveness and go to church and obey gods commandments, you will be forgiven, but remember that the devil exists and he will try to make your life impossible and make you fall in temptation. The bible says that what we do the sins we commit we and our children will pay for it.it's like when you plant something like a corn you get so many more, so when you do something bad or good thats what you are planting .

Because God gave us a choice to follow Him or not to. Adam and Eve were told not to eat of the tree in the center of the garden and they did. We are all responsible for our own choices and must suffer the consequences. We know what the choice is and what the consequences are.Make yours the right choice!

Simple-- because we all haven't asked! Part of being forgiven is asking for God's help; in doing this you realize that you are a sinner and you can't stop that, and nothing you ever do will be able to change that. You must have God's help to save your soul.

If you choose to accept Christ then YOUR sins will be forgiven. Adam and Eve commited the first sin, but you choose your own actions. You choose to sin. God is forgiving, but you have to accept him first.

One, this is in the wrong section.

Two, we have been forgiven, but like when a child spills a pot of boiling water onto his hand, and there is a burn, even if you forgive that child the scars and the pain will still last.

It was humanity's choice to disobay, so now we have to deal with the scars that we chose for ourselves.
