1. Are you prepared to care for another dog? New dogs, especially rescues, will have to adjust to their new life and may find it difficult. Rescue dogs especially will considering most have had less than desirable histories. You should also factor in the additional costs of food and vet bills.

2. It depends on the dogs' first meeting together. If your current dog is prone to aggression or other behavioral problems, it may feel threatened by the presence of a new dog. You should make it something special for your current dog. Make him think that this new dog is a present for him and not you. Works like a charm.

1. Do you take care of the dog you already have? If you aren't, I can see one reason why the folks wouldn't want another.

2. Introduce your dog to other dogs, friends dogs, people walking their dogs when you are walking yours, etc. Simple observation.

Dogs are pack animals, and there is always an alpha (leader) dog when there's more than one dog. Usually, the dog already present in the house will assume that role if another dog comes into the household. No problem, unless the new dog doesn't recognize its role as follower and tries to take over the alpha spot.

Well.. I don't know your parents so I don't know how you could try to convince them. My parents when they say no it means NO! lol but I never tell them, I just get the dog and well then I just explain to them that the dog is being good and my other dog seems happy with the new doggy etc..
Now.. your dog my get jealous at first, you need to take into consideration if it has been around other dogs before and how has it acted with them on those previous times.
Good luck

Take your dog around other dogs and watch how he inter reacts with other dogs. as for convincing your parents, I don't what to tell you. But good luck. I would tell them it is keeping another animal alive and in a good home.

1.Just ask them if they want to save a dog's life. That's how I got my dog.I just asked my parents if they wanted to save a dog's life and they said no but then I said it's better than them dying. And then they agreed to get him.
2.Call the shelter and ask if you can bring your dog to the shelter to see if it is jealous or not.And if they say no,ask them if it doesn't work out if you can either trade it for another dog or get your money back.
