I'm not asking for the first person to call themself a "Christian". I don't want a knee jerk answer. Please think about it before answering.

I will be surprised if most people who answer don't get it wrong.

Mary the Mother of Jesus upon responding YES to the Angel Gabriel's message of the Messiah's incarnation.

I'm going to go with Mary, possibly Joseph. Jesus was teaching in the temple at the age of 12 and both knew that Jesus was special then. I'm guessing that Mary was probably more sensetive to His uniqueness.

That's a guess on my part.

Trick question.
Job, who said "I know that my Redeemer lives, and in my flesh I will see God" (paraphrase) was definitely a Christian.
Abraham, who believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness was a Christian.
Of the two, I believe Job was the first...

But we can go back even further than that...
Adam and Eve, who believed God when He told them that the seed of the woman would be born...He would bruise the serpent's head, but the serpent would bruise his heel...they were Christians, in that they believed the promise of God.

Yeah, Christ. That's what Christian means, to believe in Christ.
By the way Peter establish the church.

A christian would be someone who believes in Christ, right? The ancient prophets believed in him long before he was born, and prophesied about him. I would say Adam. A man who walked with God in the Garden of Eden, surely he knew of Christ and believed in him.

John the Baptist was the first Christian

IIRC, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary. They were the first to see Christ risen, and believed. Technically, that'd make them the first.

I would guess Paul, since (according to the Bible) he was chosen to be the foundation of Jesus' new church ergo the first Pope.

I'm also guessing that this is somehow a trick question haha...

I am inclined to say Mary Magdalene since she was the first one to encounter the risen Christ. I could also say Peter since I believe he was the first to call Jesus "the Christ" (Matt. 16:16).
