You aren't the first person to bring up this ancient argument, and you won't be the last.
Police carry weapons to protect the innocent. That's primarily what our military is doing now, despite what you hear from those who complain against the war.
Hypocrisy is an individual judgment. Some soldiers may be, if they willingly violate their beliefs. You'll notice that all of our troops are volunteers, so they believed it would not violate their beliefs to defend America or other innocent people, even if it meant a fight to the death with someone else. I tend to feel that's how you define a hero.

When the bibles "thou Shalt not kill" it means not to murder someone. There is a difference between killing and murder.
Even the bible says there is a time for war. To kill in defense of a nation or people is not what you would call "killing"(murder)
To break into a persons home and shot the owner, that would be considered killing. I know there is a fine line and hard to separate, I guess it really boils down to the intent behind the action.

Christans are allowed to kill anyone who isn't their version of Christian. Since God only cares about his chosen people. Ha ha, that's the Israelites,(or so they say. Wonder who translated the Bible? Wonder who wrote the Bible? Could people have used drugs back then? Did people always have enough water? Or did they sometimes have visions?) You see, God allows his people to kill other people, the heathens,(or dogs). All religions do the same thing. They aren't allowed to kill their own, but the heartens or dogs(has Christians are refered to by radical Muslims) are fair game, you can even get into heaven faster if you kill a heathen.

You are misinformed. The original wording, in Hebrew, translates to "You should not MURDER." The Bible advocates killing if it's for self-defense, an act of war, an act of justice, or an act of God. Murder is a totally different thing.

This word "kill" refers to the taking of innocent life, not defending one's country in the military. In fact, God got upset with Israel for NOT killing all the people when they went into the Promised Land.

Killing is not the same as defending yourself. The commandment is meant as not to take innocent life, or murder. But the millitary defend the country. They are in fact saving our lives, by taking out the ones who seek to destroy us.

It was the Pharoah, who ordered all the male first borns to
be killed, he heard of the prophecy of Jesus, he wanted to
kill Jesus. God took his wrath on the Pharoah, plagues, etc.
God will make war against his enemies. He doesn't like it,
but he will do it.
