It means she's not really intersted in you anymore, but since you guys probably go to the same school it would be way to uncomfortable if she said "l want to break up", so to soften the blow she words it like she did. Don't call her (it's ok to talk though if she call you). It was her idea to "take a break" it will have to be her idea to contact you if she wants to. The ball is in her court.

she wants to just stop being bf and gf for awhile, but that doesnt mean you should start seeing anyone new. shes just a little overwhelmed with the relationship. a break has all the same rules and limits as actually being in a relationship without you two being affectionate.
