I would look at your local pet shelter, Humane Society or rescue shelter. You can find lots of cats there for reasonable prices. Just look them up on your computer.

Check your local humane shelter. Some shelters provide "wanted" applications that allows them to notify you when a pet of preferance arrives.

Don't buy a cat when there's so many abandoned kittens in the world! Personally, I got my own big white cat at the shelter and he's been wonderful.

PS: Before you get a long-haired cat, make sure that you're OK with fur sticking on your clothes. Even with daily brushing, long haired cats shed... a lot. Also, persians are prone to respirtory problems because of their squished nose... I would just get a regular "Domesticated Long Haired".

it is superb to get a haircut on your cat. Many cats hate to be brushed/combed and tangle badly. The ensuing mats are very uncomfortable for the cat. reducing the hair for the summer time is beneficial in 'commencing' over as you could brush better accessible. it is cooler for the cat and they shed shorter hair. in case you get a Persian clip (it is a shave down with fur left on the face, feet and a ball on the tail), they offer the impact of being so cute after 2 or 3 weeks at the same time as the hair is commencing to advance lower back in. One piece of suggestion -- be optimistic that whoever grooms your cat is experienced operating with cats. Groomers that artwork merely on dogs frequently, aren't any further a sturdy decision. If sedation is major, that ought to easily be done lower than the route of a vet and also you need to probable get it done at your everyday vet's workplace.

You don't need to buy a cat. Pure breeds are expensive and high maintenance. Plain old mixed breeds come in lots of colors and long or short hair. And the shelters are full if them just waiting for a cat lover like you to come along and love them.
Make sure that you are ready for the maintenance of a long hair though. I have 2 long hair cats and 2 short hair cats and the long hairs have to be brushed every day. They are harder to keep groomed than short hairs.

Check your local humane society. I've gotten 2 gorgeous longhaired cats from mine--one white, one black. Also, plain old "alley cats" come in long hair. That's what the 2 I got were. So look in the classifieds, this time of year you should be able to find free kittens.

Personally, I don't care for Persians. I think those squashed in faces are ugly. Also, they are prone to respiratory problems because of the squashed in nose.

Try Chicago, you're about 150 miles away, 2 to 3 hours by car. Maybe you'll find something there.

look in your newspaper. Most of the best deals on pets that I have found come right out of the paper. The weekend paper usually has the biggest listings.
