Training tips for small dogs?

I have a crossbreed of a chihauhau and a bischon. Shes tiny..no more than 6 pounds and about 6 months old, and I'm having the worse time training her; not only potty training but leash training.

Why are people suprised that they have trouble potty training tiny dogs???????? That is why many people do not have them!!!!!!
That is why they came out with that "dog litter" system, and wee-wee pads!!!!!! THEY ARE HARD TO POTTY TRAIN!!!!

Even let her bite it, it's just so she gets used to the feel of it, she won't like it right away. Start off with 10 minutes and increase it every couple of days until she acts like the leash doesn't bother her. You can even play with her in your front yard or a park while she carries her leash on her collar or harness, but don't try to hold the leash until she is used to it. The first time you actually try to guide her with the leash carry treats with you and show her one and tell her "come", when she follows you give her a treat.

Small dogs are usually harder to train. I have a Yorkie, and he still sometimes poops in the house. He knows that he is bad but he still does it. The vet is the one who told me that small dogs are harder to train. As for the leash training, put the leash on the dog and let her walk around with it attached to her. then give treats. Then little by little, go a few steps and if she doesn't fight it, give another treat. Eventually, she will associate treats with the leash and will walk just fine.

we got a puppy and used a crate to potty train her. It is great! You can get them for small dogs too. Just make sure you use it for sleeping and when she is in trouble. Use 1 word phrases for things you want her to learn on command. Sit, No, Poop, down, etc. Use the same word for that activity.

Takes alot of time and patience. IF you are trying to poddie train , make sure to take the dog out one time a hour as long as you are home. When you are not there , it is going to just take more time because they get use to craping on the floor. Your dog is still real young and it took me a year to get my dog use to a schedule and now he dosent go in the house and he loves going out on a leash. Just try saying to the dog everytime you get ready to go out side "wanna go outside?" the dog will show you eventually that he understands you and start getting excited about going out, stay out there for awhile with them and if you have seen them eat or drink in the last hour make sure to keep them outside till they pee and poop. Then make sure to tell them how good they are and pet them when they do it. THey look to you to lead them. ANd they want to make you happy. Make sure to play with them when they are good and dont play with them when they are bad. It works.

do you guys know that your dogs poop and pee on the floor is because you don't take them out often they have to go. They can't say hey I have to pee know. And when they go on the floor that's there way of saying hey, you didn't take me outside that's what you get Our puppies go on the floor but like after they its right out the door to go potty. You have to reward them after they go give him a treat. GOOD LUCK plus rubs its nose in the pee or put it up to the poop in your house before you pick it up then take your dog outside so it remembers that it has to go outside!!

small dogs love to have treats you need to be very firm with them though as they are use to having alot of attention. spend alot of time teaching your dogs tricks atleast 2 hrs a day and make sure you dont try and teach them to much at the one time they are only going to get confused.
