YES!!! Please go! That is how they are gonna make money-they are incouraging people to come and visit. My husband and I went in June and everything is fine. Two things to remember:Have patience in the restaurants. They have help wanted signs up everywhere and service is slow. But they are still recovering. And visit the nineth ward. Alot of the people who live there know that tourists are there and shopping, but not looking at the damage. We did it is VERY sad. Spend LOTS of money and Louisana will rebuild and recover!!!

There are some factors that you have to consider regarding a vacation in New Orleans(I am Owner of a Travel Agency):
1-The weather. Depending on when you want to go, the weather more than likely will be humid.
2-Aftermath of Katrina. If you have watched the news, they're still rebuilding New Orleans. That is not to say that a vacation couldn't be had, simply that it is a factor.
As a traveller, I would not hesitate to go to New Orleans but would take any precautions if needed. If none of those 2 factors deter you then some basic questions do come to mind:
1-How many are going?
2-Are you looking for a vacation package? Hotel only?
3-Do you have a timeline?
4-Is your Travel budget in place?
Minor issues for sure but they're important only because it will really simplify the search for the exact type of vacation that you're looking for. If you could kindly either call, email me at: indysteve1563@yahoo.com, or reach me through Yahoo Messenger with what you have in mind, we can see what kind of vacation options in New Orleans are available that fit your criteria.

I have to say, no. The thing is they're still rebuilding. I think that it's almost in poor taste to want to visit somewhere that's so third world right now. Not to mention the fact that it's hurricane season again, and I wouldn't want to risk that.

Sure. Just not right now. Too hot and humid in July. Was there in July for a wedding a few years back. I was sweating like a madman in my tux.

No. Although it's cheap. Still no. Afraid of mold growing in the walls of hotel. I think the stuff coming out of Choochootrain lake is contaminated.
