Question

why do men have nipples?
seriously. scientifically, it is because when we are concieved, we all start exactly the same, as female. then a little while later, a male gets a shot of hormone, and becomes a male.

But if Man was created first, in God's image, and Women created for that man, why the nipples?

ok, God has nipples. to feed who?

actually Tom, I wasted 5 points, and I had looked it up prior to asking. i only found 5000 questions about cain and able.

AND i do actually know why they have nipples.
But I am an athiest. I want to know why GOD would have made man nips.

God made woman first.... and the woman God made had three breasts.... Eve was kinda tired of the third breast and asks God to remove it.
Eve: i really like this paradise everthing is great but i was hoping you can get rid of this third boob... i mean there are two of everything... two arms, two legs to eyes, maybe two boobs would be good to follow the two theme

so God says sure and gets rid of the third boob,

God: so how are things with your boobs? feeling symmentrical and all?

Eve: Yes! theyre great, completely free and whatnot... but i was wondering. there's two of everything and i see the animals have someone to love and mate... can i have one?

God: sure... now where did i put that useless boob

Firstly, "scientifically" shmientifically. It is not hard science to say that "males get a shot of hormone". If that is a scientific statement it is a sloppy one.

Secondly, according to Christian doctrine the state of things after the Fall of man was not quite the same as it was meant to be. This would effect the way reproduction occurs as well as its results. But even without considering the Fall of man I think it is understandable that even if the first man had no nipples his progeny, given that they are offspring from him AND his wife, might just end up with nipples. After all, we all know that sometime during its stay in the womb the previously female child is shot up with some hormones....

I'm answering this as a descendant of simians, rather than some mythological figures.

In the uterus, all mammals are by default female. Only when the Y chromosome activates, usually in the eighth week of pregnancy in humans, the genitals shift towards a more recognizably male pattern, with the phallus developing into a penis and the vulva fusing into a scrotal sac.

Consequently, we all have nipples since their development is earlier in gestation than the genitals. Males do have mammary tissue in their chests as well; this is why some men do come down with breasy cancer, and male-to-female transsexuals can develop breasts on hormone therapy.

Correction: we do NOT "start exactly the same, as female." We all start as undifferentiated. The analogous organs will either develop as male organs if the hormones are present, but in the absence of hormones, will develope as female organs. As further evidence, analogous organs are fallopian tubes and spermatic chords. However, the undiffrentiated embryo has two sets of ducts, Mullerian and Wolffian. If the embro develops as a female, the Mullerian ducts will mature to form these organs and the Wolffian ducts will degnerate. If the embryo is to develop as a male, the Wolffian ducts mature to form the analogous organs and the Mullerian ducts will degenerate.

That is an old wife's tale... gender is fixed at conception.. a change can occure if there is a chemical imbalence, or some defect occures, very early on...causing various sexual abnormalities.

men can indeed nurse a baby with proper stimulation of hormones... that dose not mean that the embrio was originaly female... at conception it is decideed whether the mamery glands will develope or not...

men's nipples were suppose to lactate so that they have a role in caring for their offspring too,instead of moping around watching sports and looking at other women.fortunately,after much pleading and begging,adam was free of that responsibility because eve used emotion to convince god that she was willing to take on that responsibility too,along with the pain of childbirth.that is why women live longer.eve agreed to suffer and willingly took on adam's responsibility so that he may take afternoon naps and eat apples instead of lactating.
