That all depends on where you are arriving from.
I am assuming you mean you will be changing planes in London, England - LHR, LGW, LTN etc.
If you are arriving from somewhere else in the UK (Birmingham, Dublin or Glasgow for example) then you will not see customs. If you are arriving from anywhere else, even Schengen countries like Italy, then you will need to go through customs before going on to your connecting flight. That's because the UK is not a signatory to the Schengen agreement.
Just a word of advice here, if its Heathrow LHR, then I would recommend allowing at least two full hours between connecting flights as the time to clear customs and get to your new terminal and gate can be very long! Four hours would be even better. LHR is not exactly the world's most efficient or friendly airport!
