Personally I don't care that we have immigrants, this country started with immigration. I know it sucks in Mexico so I can understand why they all want to come here. But the problem is, the illigeal immigrants are not paying taxes. I pay taxes and my money goes toward ILLEGAL immigrant's schooling, scholorships, health care, etc, etc. This is what is not fair and what is going to hurt our country.

One idea to fix this, is to rid of taxes as they are now, and put the taxes on groceries (food). Everyone has to buy food.

I say come on over to our great country, but do it legally!!

I got this in an E-mail-----------------

A lady wrote the best letter in the Editorials in ages!! It explains better than all the balderdash you hear on TV. "Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration. Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely. Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behindthese protests.

Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave. But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors; I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and honest (except for when I broke into your house)."

According to the protesters, not only must you let me stay, you must add me to your family's insurance plan and provide other benefits to me and to my family (my husband will do your yard work because he too is hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in pa rt). If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my right to be there. It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm hard-working and honest-- um, except for, well, you know.

And what a deal it is for me!! I live in your house, contributing
only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of selfishness, prejudice and being anti-housebreaker.
Oh yeah, and I want you to learn my language so you can communicate with me!

Why can't people see how ridiculous this is?! Only in America

Personally, I don't have anything against legal immigration, but this is food for thought

Mexican Woman is absolutely right! I'm all for ridding the country of all illegal immigrants and replacing 90 to 95% of them with legal immigrants, but first we have to address the problem of people employing illegal immigrants. If there was no one to employ the illegal immigrants, they would not come here. They are exploiting the illegal immigrants and the illegal immigrants are too desperate to care. However, if those same illegal immigrants went home and applied for legal immigration and came back to the same jobs to work legally, their lives would be so much better!!!! No more looking over their shoulders for the DHS. No more having to cheat for every little right. And maybe we'd get a new crew that had a little more respect for the law of the land they want so desperately to live in.

And Tom, you can't seriously believe what you say. Have you actually ever thought about the issue, or did you just hear someone say something and adopt it as your mantra? We are not talking about immigration here. We are talking about ILLEGAL immigration. If we have no right to stop illegal immigration, why do we have borders?

I want LEGAL immigrants to this country. At least they respect the country enough to want to do it right. My husband will be a legal immigrant when we decide to move to the US. Illegal immigration makes it a LOT harder for legal immigrants. How is that fair? Are illegal immigrants more important than legal ones? So your an elitist too?

Tom -

not everyone's ancestors who came here automatically did it illegally. Millions upon millions came into this country the legal way, and millions more are still doing that today. I know someone who's beein working on becoming a U.S. Citizen for more than seven years...

It's the illegals (mostly from Mexico) that are the problem, not people who came here legally 100 or more years ago... quit trying to lump current day illegals in with people who do it legally.

Verifying the immigration status before granting any government funded services.
Pay as you go!! That's bottom line and it is only fair!
If you pay taxes, you are entitle to the benefits.
If you don't pay taxes, you can NOT enjoy the benefits.

Because the lefties told them so.
Immigrants are great.
Do it legally.

Having sales tax as our only source of revenue hurts the middle class just as much as illegal immigration does.

We just need to enforce the laws we already have on the books and everything will be alright.

What you have said could not be more true, immigrants use the benefits and resources that honest LEGAL citizens earn. We work hard and they take the benefits, people say its wrong to kick them out, well i say its wrong to come in illegally and take the benefits of others.

The united states is a country build on immigrants, I believe every immigrant has the right to have the American dream, but come on to the one (illegals) that don't give a crap about America they shouldn't get any special attention. The Mexicans who come here to live 5 o 6 months out of the years and take all there money back with them and not even spend a dime of it here, to the Mexicans, who refuse to hang a us flag out their door,to the Mexicans who make fun of legals,to the Mexicans who refuse to learn English,to the Mexicans who rent a house and move in 100 more Mexicans and refuse to pay rent and destroy the property,to the Mexicans who refuse to pay taxes, to the Mexicans that think we should change our national language to make life easier for them,to the Mexicans that take our jobs and don't even have a green card, GO HOME YOU ARE NOT WANTED HERE. or go about it the right way..go through all the red tape like my ancestors did......OH FORGOT THEY CANT SPECK ENGLISH

They think they have rights because they can get free medical, schooling and aid. No, it's not fair and if youread the news ,you will find that quite a few counties and hospitals near the border and in deep financial debt because of all the free bees.
