Ephesians 6:1-2 says, "Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise"
Notice it says "in the Lord". If they tell you to do something wrong (against the Lord's will), then you should respectfully refuse their request because, "We ought to obey God rather than men." (Acts 5:29)
Also, parents teach you many things. Some things are more important than others. One of the most important things almost all parents try to teach is "You do what is right!"
Now, if a parent later tells you to do something wrong, you are showing no honer to your parents by disobeying the more important command to keep a secondary command. (They may not be aware that their secondary command is not right. After all, parents are only human.)
In such a case, you should try to respectfully (show honor) explain the conflict you see to your parents and explain why you feel it to be wrong to follow their instructions.
In the end, though, YOU NEED TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT! After all, this is the way your parents taught you.

Obviously not.
BUT
you have twisted the intent of the words in the Bible.
You must do what the Bible says by refusing to commit such sin(s), which are against God, and has nothing to do with honoring you father and mother.

You can honor someone without doing everything they say just like can respect someone with out agreeing with them.
Do you only honor perfect people? If so, then only Jesus was worthy of honor. Even a broken clock is right twice a day and your parents, dispite any faults or mistakes in judgement, have given you the gift of life and continue to provide a food, shelter, clothing, etc. for you. These are the reasons you honor them.
This is more than you have ever done for anyone. They deserve your respect and honorary place in your heart.
You do not have to agree with them or obey every word to honor your parents. You honor them by being a responsible individual member of the family. Your decisions to obey the law is an honor to those that raised you.

It says Honor your Father and Mother, not do everything they say. Sometimes not doing helps them better than doing. Besides we are to put God first and then everything else will fall into place. My Dad knew the Bible backward and Forward. He could put some Preachers to shame, but he was lost because he did not believe in Jesus. I am a Christian and I honor him as my Dad, but I also told him how I felt about the Word. Then one day my husband and I prayed that he come the the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus. After 4 years, one day he walked into our place of business and told us he had gave his heart and life to Jesus and now knows he is on his way to heaven.

Honoring you Father or Mother does not mean you have to do something illegal it just means to hold them in high respect.
Everyone has their own morals and knows what is wrong and what is right.
Sometimes it is up to the children to break a cycle or a pattern.
Children come into a family to teach the parents many lessons
What I have learnt from my children unconditional love, detachment, and how to let go.
Maybe you are to teach you parents to be honest.
Love & Blessings

The Bible instructs us to show our parents respect, and to be obedient and honor them... until we are asked to do something by our parents (or anyone, actually) which goes against God's rules. Acts 5:29 says for us to obey God rather than man, and that is true even of parents or spouses. If a parent is purposely leading their child to a life of crime or immorality, then the child has the spiritual right to refuse, and the legal right to call for help.

A person is always suppose to "honor" their parents. That is to show the respect due to them. But to honor does not mean to obey. The Bible answers the obedience scripture in Ephesians 6:1 "Children, obey your parents IN THE LORD: for this is right." So they are only required to obey when the parent is "in the Lord", or telling them to do what is right. If the parent is abusing, telling them to sin, etc. then they are NOT obligated to obey the parent - but God.

This is where the devil takes over. If you continue to honor/obey them and you commit a crime you will be in trouble with God AND man. Ignorance of laws is not innocence or bliss
No rule is that inflexible - use common sense. If you know right from wrong you cannot commit sin and crimes then blame God's guidance. And you will be deemed crazy if you say 'the devil made me do it'.
Unlike a tax document there are no loopholes in the scriptures. Plus, if your interpretation is correct - no one will ever be responsible for their own decisions or their own soul.
Honor means respect, not blind obedience.

The Bible says obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Ephesians 6:1. IF your parents tell you to steal, etc. you are not obey God, because the Bible says" Thou shalt not steal", which is part of the Ten Commandments.

The same rule applies to governments and parents. If they tell you to do something wrong you have a right to refuse. However God is an honorable and fair judge and can read the heart
