Silly thing, you're not going to Hell. People put themselves there by thinking they belong there. Some people think other people belong there who don't think they do...and it just keeps getting more and more convoluted every time one turns around! I think all souls go back to the Divine (or whatever shape you think the Divine is...) and then we can either go Home or hop back on the merry-go-round of existence. People will tell me I'm going to hell for not believing in God or Jesus or Allah. I'm not. I'm just going Home.

It Is said that every human being no matter who they are or what they have done ,may hope for kindness from a foreign and powerful force we name God, except those that have not believed in him and die without admitting that he exists.
At death the last thought Is on that source and living entity, whether a person has believed or not, In the last hour all cling on to him.
There is nothing more offensive to a source that has produced the very universe and dimension of time that you exist in and has asked for nothing in return than belief, to see you so arrogant. I only pity you because your skepticism will deprive you of a happy and content existence in your life and after death your consciousness which survives, will suffer the more for it.
why should you not believe something because it cannot be seen? Do you see the electricity that powers almost all you household appliances and your computer without being visible? then why cannot people like you believe there is a sort of similar power behind all we know of? The universe did not appear out of the blue and evolution though it Did occur did not start off by itself. Open your eyes and feel life as it is.

The Bible says at Romans 6:23 that "the wages sin pays is death" and Romans 6:7 says that "he who as died has been acquitted from his sin". So why would a person be subjected to further punishment after death, when death itself is punishment from the sins brought on by Adams disobedience? (Romans 5:12)
The King James Bible mentions the wicked going to hell but it also mentions at Job 14:13 that Job wanted God to remember him in hell, yet at Job 1:8 God himself said that Job was a man "blameless and upright, fearing God and turning aside from bad". So that would imply that though God thought favorably of Job he was going to hell? Doesn't make sense.
Notice Rev. 20:13 & 14 where it says that the sea gave up those dead in it and death and hell delivered up the dead in them and death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. (So the dead would be delivered from hell -which makes no sense b/c you have been taught you will burn eternally in hell- Notice also that hell is not the same as the lake of fire but will be cast into the lake of fire meaning eternal destruction).
The word "hell" is found in many Bible translations. In the same verses other translations read "the grave", "the world of the dead" and so forth. Bottom line the word she'ohl' has been translated into hell (meaning a fiery place to burn forever to scare people into believing what there preacher says), because the literal translation of that word is simply the grave and by that definition we are all going to hell eventually.
God is a god of love he would not torment people forever in hell anymore that a father would stick his sons hand in a burning fire simply b/c he disobeyed. We would be shocked if we heard such a story of abuse today, yet people willingly gulp down the lie that God could be so cruel!!
As far as you not believing in God, that is something I have a hard time grasping. The very idea that all creation happened simply by chance. It's like putting a jig saw puzzle in a jar shaking it around, pouring it out, and expecting all the pieces will be put together and the puzzle solved.
I know these few paragraphs won't change your life so I'll shut up now. Just thought I'd offer my opinion.

Ponderer,
If you have not heard of the Council of Nicea, in 325 A.D., check it out. It was there, and then, that the religion we call "Christianity" was created by the Emperor Constantine. At that time, many of the original teachings of Jesus were set aside. Many new doctrines, some of them pagan, were added. The book we call the Bible, was assembled there, with many "corrections" made to the original scriptures and writings. All of the books that conflicted with the new Orthodox Faith, were destroyed. If you look at the idea of eternal Hell, and you know God at all, you will see that the two are completely incompatible. Think of the most depraved human monster you can imagine. If he put his children into endless fire and suffering, he would eventually get tired of their endless screaming, and either let them go, or destroy them. Are we more merciful, and mature than God? I don't think so. The concept of Hell, comes from Greek mythology. The Emperor Constantine wanted a religion that had a really bad ending, if you didn't join and obey. Hell worked out very nicely for him. Don't get me wrong. I do believe that there is a special place reserved for the Angels who rebelled against God's Kingdom. It may be eternal, I don't know. The Bible, if you search it carefully, teaches that in the end, those who reject God, and His Will, shall be destroyed. Could you really enjoy eternal life in Heaven, listening to the endless screams of your unsaved loved ones? Not. Jesus came to the earth to bring us a simple and elegant message. "The Kingdom of God, is within you". If we approach God as humble children, and invite Him into our hearts, He will send His Spirit into us, and bond with us. We become new creatures, part mortal, part Immortal. The old values of materialism and fear, fall away. Love and Wisdom, become the foundation of all our choices. We have embarked on the Path of Eternity, and we will never be the same again. God doesn't have denominatons, or churches, He has children. Those who choose not take God as their Father, may very well cease to exist, but I cannot concieve of a God, Whose name is Love, torturing them forever. You must choose for yourself.

It depends on the religion, really. Every religion professes to show you the path to Heaven (and therefore, to avoid damnation). But in every one, it is up to the individual to decide whether or not he wants to take the steps necessary to avoid going to hell.
Here's an analogy: You're driving down a road that is posted at 35 mph, and you say, "that's not the morals I choose to adhere to" and drive 75 mph. You get pulled over and given a ticket. You now have to go to court.
Are you mad at the police officer? The judge? The person who wrote the law?
Or shouldn't you be mad at yourself? Because, after all, the means to avoid a ticket was laid out in front of you, and you chose a different path. Is it God punishing you, or you choosing to do it your own way....why shouldn't you consider it fair that you are held accountable for your own actions?

Q: Why am I going to hell? Is it because I simply refuse to admit he exists? Because I don't believe?
A person not only has to admit that God exists, he needs to believe in him (faith). This is not a simple belief i.e. Anyone can "believe" in a person such as George Washington, e.g. that he existed, he did this and that. It's not that kind of belief / faith, but rather a surrender of oneself to God. A person can believe that a "God" exists but still live as he pleases. Faith is reliquishing control of your life to Him. You are not your own. It's finding freedom by surrendering.
Q: My actions are based on morals that most religious people wouldn't adhere to.
Many religious people are simply that - religious. They follow do's and don'ts not because they love God but for the sake of following, or for people to notice. That's why Jesus didn't like the Pharisees because this is what they did.
Our morals should not be based on standards people around us impose (cultural holiness) e.g. what our religion forbids etc. Our basis should be God's standard. Instead, we should do and don't do things because we revere God.
Q: Someone must have a good reason why their god would want to punish me for his short comings?
Actually, all of us should be punished, no one is exempt - even if a person committed only one sin in his entire life, for instance he lied.
Sometimes we think that somehow we are righteous because we hold on to a certain set of morals. However, this does not impress God. A perfect God can only require perfection. Even our good deeds are filthy rags to Him.
That's why God allowed Jesus to die. It wasn't easy for Him to do that. But he loved us enough to do it, so we might have a chance to be saved. Yes, I said a CHANCE to be saved. This is how it works - if a person truly believes that Jesus died for him, and in effect lives his life in gratitude, he will be saved. He acknowledged God's sacrifice for him. Any sin he has committed before and will commit will be forgiven (given that he is truly repentant), not because he deserves anything, but because he believes that Jesus has already paid the penalty. A person who believes in Jesus is called a Christian, and will strive to live a life pleasing to God not because of fear, but because of gratitude.
Have you believed in Jesus?

Hell is a fantasy made up by the insecure to try to control others.
God is unconditionally loving. Unconditional means no conditions, No hoops that need to be jumped through to be acceptable, no judgment, no punishment, and no hell.
God is only love. Love does not harbor thoughts of revenge or punishment. Love only loves.
End of story.
If this does not describe your God its time you started looking for a real God.
Love and blessings

That's what I said to my parents' pastor when I left their church. That whole belief makes God look like a total immoral ***.
I don't believe you're going to Hell. Even if there were such a place, a real God would respect that you had the courage to follow your conscience despite the threats from the religionists.

When people tell me I'm going to hell, I just tell them " at least I'll be there with all my friends, Let the good times roll again"
Brain washed people can't believe that a good person couldn't possibly be anything but a christian.
Besides, so many of them go to church because they have bad stuff to feel guilty about and ask forgiveness.

It isn't your unbelief, it's your sin. If you have ever lied, stolen, lusted, hated, or blasphemed God's name, and God judges you by that perfect standard on the Day of Judgment, you will go to hell. There is none righteous, the Bible says. You can't blame your shortcomings on Him. That won't hold water, and it says that day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord, but it will be too late. But because He loves you, he made a way for you by sending Jesus to die on the cross and pay your punishment. We broke the law, and Jesus paid our fine. If we repent, turn from sin once & for all, and trust in Jesus, he will cover you with His righteousness and you'll be blameless before God.
