I do it because:
The name of G-d is HOLY, so it is in this mode I choose to omit the vowels....it is a Hebrew practice historically.......
But, just like picking up a penny...."In G-d we Trust" is on it ....."the Name".....so pick it UP! His name is HOLY and should not be walked upon.

You think this is bad? some on here question me about it...........

I am a Messianc Christian and I also call G-d, Yahweh and Jesus, Yeshua.....those are His names too....and they are HOLY....

Some of you self called Christians are judgemental and just too picky! Get a little love in your heart. All that matters is if someone is on their way to Heaven or Hell...we can't even judge that unless they out and out say so....
then we aren't going to change them...we just need to love them....and allow G-d to move in their hearts.
No wonder some on here think we are hypocrites....they see no difference in us than the world around them...SOME are better than us........sad

Just curious: Why do you omit the vowels in the word "God" but don't do the same for the other terms listed for deity if they are also holy?

I stopped saying the tetragram name for God out loud twenty years ago as a personal sign of respect for God because a Rabbi friend told me about how special that particular name was treated while reading the Torah aloud in synagogue. It's been fun to be more intentional about saying or writing something related to God's name, for it is holy.

I have always written God's name. It isn't that I think I am worthy to do it, but, rather because I was taught that it was to give honor and glory to Him. I also capitalize the letter H in Him when i am referring to God. Recently, I had the opportunity to read...Bible Code. In reading this book I learned a lot of things I had not known or gave mush thought too. It was in my reading that I learned that it is the practice of Jews and part of the Hebrew history to write God (G-d). I also understand that the term Adonis is used for Lord. This term is used for the same reason as writing God (G-d).Thanks for sharing. By the way, I always pick up pennies. I believe they are little blessings from G-d. That is why they say...."In God we trust!"

because the jews consider God very holy and the names of God sacred and do not want to defile His name or who He is in anyway. It is a sign of respect. Do as you see fitting. The greek Jews changed many of the names to God in the bible to LORD and GOD because they esteemed His names that greatly. I think you are making a big deal of nothing really and we should be in unity. The Christians dont think they are better than the Jews or Messianic Jews. We have respect for them and think it is a blessing to be from the family of Isreal.

I'm not sure of your question, but the points you stated are excellent. Historically, at least one letter of one of God's names was omitted so that no one could dishonor His name, any name that was used for God. It is still practised. And I agree with you, we should put more love in the equation! After all, didn't the Book say that "God is love"?!

Actually I thought people were doing it to not be offensive to Atheist, much like omitting the vowel in s-ck, so as not to be offensive in their language, but still get the point across. I thought it was very thoughful of someone to do that. Thanks for letting me know there are other reasons that I wasn't aware of, I do like learning things. Sorry that people gave you a hard time about it.

God isnt the name of God. God is the generic name for the being to whom we cant know by a name. To know in biblical times meant that you were equal.

I am Jewish and we do that because we feel that you should never erase G-d's name because it is holy there for if you leave that letter out you really aren't erasing it. Another holy name for G-d for me is Adonai.
