speaking as a broke college student, you might actually want to start saving. Even if you can pay for tuition, or take out loans, you'll still want book money/spending money, etc. BUT, if you do want to spend the money, there's two things to consider. If it's money from your parents, like, an allowance, or something like that, then it's technically their money, and since you're probably a minor, what's yours is technically theirs anyway. In this case, show them that you're responsible and can go out and get a job and make your own money. However, if it's money that you've earned yourself, like through a job that's not chores in your house, try talking to your parents. Try saying something like, I proved myself to be responsible by earning this money and working hard. Let me prove to you even more responsibility by spending this money carefully, and like an adult. If you do want to spend money, show your parents that you are willing to be mature and responsible and put a lot in savings, but also show them that you can spend money responsibly

College is super expensive, don't use the money...save it. Trust me, you'll thank yourself later. TRUST ME!!!! Even if you plan on working while attending, the more you have, the better it will be. Plus, Mom & Dad want to show you the value of a dollar, you may think they are just coming down on you, but they aren't. They are doing this because they care. Good Luck!!!!

Ask if there can be a compromise. Say if you have $50...ask them if you could put $30 away for college and you be allowed to spend $20 now. All they can say is no.

go to the bank with your parents. put the money that is saved for you in a CD account, usally around 4%. then take a loan out on the CD for about 2%, and there you go, you get 2% into your account for borrowing againts your CD.

That depends on what you want to spend it on. If you want to spend it on something you don't really need, it is better that your parents don't let you spend it. College is expensive.
