I credit my dogs to getting me through some of the toughest times in my short adult life. This last year, me and my boyfriend had a falling out, he moved leaving me with all the rent and stuck in a strange town where I knew next to no one. Every day I woke up with their smiling faces nudging me awake, and everyday I came home they were there to greet me by barking and jumping and kissing me. Without them, that year would have been very hard - and granted they did cause some frustration by peeing on the carpet - but I don't think I could have pulled through and finished my last year of college without them. What are your stories? How have your pets helped you?

They know your feelings and my oldest Schnauzer who's three knows whenever anyone in my family is sad or sick or anything. Whenever there's a problem she knows and wants to make us feel better she will come up to you no matter where you are and will stay right by your side she will look up at you and you look in her eyes and it's like she's saying every thing's going to be o.k. If there's anything the matter with anybody she will not leave that person's side. If your laying or sleeping in bed she will jump on it without touching you and snuggle up against you and sleep. She also will snuggle and push against you while you are sitting and it means she wants to give you a hug. She will put a paw on each shoulder and rest her head on a shoulder and that's how she gives you a hug. My other dogs can't sense it as well but they show that they love you and that is help enough. My dogs help my family through everything. Answer to your question: defiantly . Words can barley describe it.

yes definetly my dog will console me. it is funny. I lost my mom a few months ago when she was in the hospital and things weren't going i came home and was laying down she practically smothered me, and did so the next few nights. she layed on top of my chest and put her head up by mine the whole night. I thought it was cute and a one time occurance, then I lost a job that i really liked came home she did the same exact thing. everytime i am really upset i notice that she does this, she always sleeps close to me with her head on my pillow, but during the emotional parts she is as close as she can possibly get.

Pets are great de-stressers. When we are arguing, you can say "Oh, look at the cute thing Kitty is doing" and it's a great way to derail the rest of the fight. Plus petting a purring or tail-wagging pet lowers the blood pressure. Our cats are really wonderful. Even though one of them destroyed two carpets.

Oh, certainly!

Things were never easy when I was a kid- but as long as I had a dog to play with, it never bothered me or occured to me to think of how hard life really was.

And in my adult life, assorted felines have been great friends, waking me from nightmares at times and otherwise helping me out- and I don't mean just by catching mice!

i really do think that pets, i'm a dog owner, have helped thru tough times....even just a bad day and i'm happy. thier unconditional love is like no other. no matter how upset i am they are always there to cuddle or play with to cheer you up. nothing makes me happier than my little guy greeting me at the door. even when no one else seems happy to see me he is always eager for mommy to be home!

When my grandparents died, I felt like the only person that I could talk to was my dog(a golden retriever) she totally got the fact that I was upset and patiently listened and licked my face when I was done to show that she understood and that she cared and wanted me to feel better.

My animals make me smile the minute I see them.I can be having a bad day, and they make me feel loved and wanted. My american pit bull terrier actually let me know that a wall socket was trying to catch on fire!

Shadow, my dog, has actually made me laugh be whining at my Chinchillas Greycie and Twilight. Also, she makes me smile when she does what she is told to do. But when I am feeling down, Shadow is warm so I hug her.
