Do it this way!
X + 19 = 76 is your original equation...
Now add 1 to both side of equation
Like this
X + 19 + 1 = 76 +1
therefore
X + 20 = 77
X = 77 -20
X = 57
(Will 77 - 20 = 57 be much easier than 76 - 19 = 57?)
It you think so...
give me 10 pts
by the way, a calculator will help..

If x = 57, what is y - (57 + y = 76)
If y = 19, what is x - (x + 19 = 76)
If x = 57, y = 19, what is z - (57 + 19 = z)

You do it like this:
x + 19 = 76
-19 -19
x = 57
You just subtract 19 from both sides of the equation.

The easiest way to do this kind of problem is to keep the X by itself and move everything else to the other side of the equal sign. Remember that when you move a plus to the other side, it becomes a minus (and if you move a multiply it becomes a divide). So: X = 76 - 19 = 57

x = 57 because you have to subtract 19 from the left side of the equation and subtract 19 from 76 therefore leaving you with x = 56.
