my 4 year old rottweiler's tooth has little black spots in one spot. is this decay or is it something that is stuck on there and needs to be scraped off? how much would it be to be checked by a vet?

it is probably tartar build up. unless you are feeding him junk food, he probably doesn't have bad teeth. get him crunchy things to chew on, like milk bones, and give him real bones...big ones like beef or ham bones, which you can get from a butcher or from pet stores. gnawing on these will help him clean his teeth naturallly. you don't want to give him wet food all the time either. let him have the dry, crunchy stuff. unless you see redness or swelling in the gums, or he seems to be in pain, i doubt very much he needs a vet to look at him.

My Rotty's tooth was scored, (there was a ring around it) I showed it to the vet and she didn't know what it was. It got more and more noticeable and finally when he was around two years old, it broke in half. When he was five it fell out. It didn't seem to bother him though.

take it to a vet, or take pictures and take it to a dentist. Your going to need an experts opinion. Plus if they can identify it then they can give u medicne fore it.
