Yes, but be sure if you are catching it yourself that you are fishing in a clean waterway. Catfish are scavengers and if the water is polluted, so is the fish.

Catfish is very popular among Filipinos, especially those who live in areas far from the sea. But for me, I grew up near the seashore and I only eat marine creatures like fish, squid, mussels, clam, etc. I don't like freshwater fish. No matter how they are cooked, I can always detect they come from freshwater.

yes, they are kind of a pain to prepare though, a catfish SHOULD be skinned before u fillet it, the skinning is the hardest part, i find it easiest to use a pair of vice grips and lock its mouth down to a board, then its kind of like skinning a rabbit- cut around the head and all the fins then down the belly, then take another pair of pliars and peel the skin back, now u can fillet it, but if u dont want to skin it, just cut the fillet off with the skin then after it is cooked the skin will be softer and u can peel it off with ur fingers although i wouldnt recomend it, u may not be able to get it all off

If you have never had fried catfish, well, you've just never had really good fish !!! YUM !!!!
Try it, you'll love it!
I would try it at a restaurant though. It;s VERY messy to clean !
Something I have a feeling you wouldn't want to do ! ( I know I wouldn't! )

freshwater catfish is the best. you can either fillet them or gut them and pull off their skin and chop the head off. easy way to pull skin off is nail their head to a board and cut a line around their body behind the front fins and take some pliers and pull it straight back. deep fry them in some beer batter.

Yes it is very tasty. Skin it and fillet it and dip it in a batter of flour and eggs, then roll it in bread crumbs and deep fry it. Also your could cut it into bit size pieces, marinate it in lemon and salt & pepper, then fry it and use it in a fish curry! so go ahead and eat it.
