Me and my girlfriend just made it official, to where we can't see other people. We talk and I don't always call her like I say. I guess thats most guys for ya, but anyway when we talk on the phone it gets awkward sometimes, is that normal? What should I do about it?

I know this isn't exactly conventional wisdom, but you shouldn't be talking on the phone so much. It's awkward because neither one of you has anything to say, and you can't get body language cues from each other over the phone. For best results, keep your conversations down to 5 minutes max. And that's only when you're arranging a date, or discussing life-or-death matters! If she won't shut up, tell her "Save it for the date so we'll have something to talk about!" And in person, of course, you can see what she's thinking from the look on her face, etc. Good luck!

What the hell is normal anyways? guys are marrying guys, girls are marrying girls. The world is all *****-d up, any how. If you get bored talking ask her what she is wearing and see where that takes you. If that doesn't work let her know that you do love/like her and are very interested in her but you are not a phone type of guy. That you have things to take care of,and that you enjoy talking about things with her in person,so much better. And that (this is the clincher) talking on the phone so much, with her. makes you miss her so much, that it's unbearable and that it makes it impossible to concentrate on other aspects of your life

One way to avoid awkward conversations is to know up front what you're going to talk about. Jot down 5 or 6 ideas (just words to remind you) and talk about them. If the conversation goes elsewhere, fine, but when it gets weird again, you can always change the subject and go back to one of those topics on your list. When you've exhausted the list, you say that it's getting late or whatever and end the conversation on a nice note. easy peasy.

Maybe she is not the right person for you if you feel awkward talking to her. Give it some time!
