Drink when you are thirsty. There is no real scientific evidence for the idea you need 8 glasses a day. Everyone knows you are supposed to drink a lot of water and everyone is wrong. Recent reviews have shown the whole thing was based on very unscientific opinions with an extraordinary lack of evidence.
However water probably contains fewer less than healthy chemicals compared with soda or coffee. So you are helping your body every time you avoid commercially flavored drinks in favor of water. Drink lots of water, whenever you feel thirsty.
Listen to your body. It is probably healthier than reading answers like this.

Your weight has virtually nothing to do with your daily fluid intake.Scientists all over the world are shooting down that 8,8 ounce glasses a day. They say that's not necesarry. If you work hard, work out or just perspire alot then you need plenty of fluid.Don't believe that nonsense that you shouldn't drink alot of water because of water rtention.Your body purges more water if it knows that there's more coming in.You retain it if you don't drink enough because your body panics and starts storing more.I use to drink 2 gallons a day for a week then very little for 3 days before a powerlifting meet to lose water weight. It worked like a charm.

1 oz for every 2 lbs of body weight. minimum 8 - 8 oz glasses, ideally 109 oz (approximately 14 - 8 oz glasses) a day.
by the time you feel thirsty you are already in the first stages of dehydration. dehydration can be very dangerous, even deadly. don't rely solely on the sensation of thirst to determine when or how much you drink.

I have been doing Weight Watcher's for the past 2 years and I've heard from them, that you are supposed to drink atleast 8 8oz glasses a day, but it would be even better if you tried to drink half of your weight in ounces.

The 8 glasses rule is a HORRIBLE misconception.
What you have to do is divide your weight by 20.
THAT is how many glasses of water you should drink.
I mean, think about it...
Does it make sense for a 60-pound kid and a 300 pounder to be drinking the same amount of water? I THINK NOT!

You don't need to drink 8 glasses of water a day. You certainly don't need 1/2 your body weight (in oz.) per day. You don't need ANY arbitrary target amount per day. Don't listen to the old wives' tales and urban myths.
Drink when you're thirsty. Period!

Take your body weight, convert it to ounces, then divide by 4. For you that would be 54 1/2 ounces a day.

It takes 1300 cc of water for normal body function a day. That's for a person that does nothing but lay in bed. So depending on your activities you need this much and more.
