Your dog shares 1/2 of her genes with her father. Any latent genes have a much greater chance of expressing. So, any bad qualities that the 2 dogs have in common will likely be seen in the pups. You also increase the likelihood of birth defects.
There are lots of great Maltese out there if you are serious about breeding. And I am sure you could find one.
My suggestion is that you do some more homework before jumping into breeding. There is a lot to know about genetics, diseases, parasites, vaccines, emergency dog care, labor & delivery, puppy socialization, . Don't be lead to believe that all pure bred dogs are suitable for breeding. They aren't. And don't believe that your dog needs to breed, she doesn't.
There is a right way to do everything. Dog breeding involves a lot of committment, hard work, vet bills and sleepless nights. Please don't be the pet owner that creates life and doesn't accept that responiblity

Since you asked the question, I assume you are a backyard breeder who wants some "easy money". Please spay your maltese, and don't breed her unless she is an AKC Champion and you know what you are doing. There are way too many available dogs out there. You don't have to add to it.

NO! causes genetic malfunctions.
the exact same happens with humans. in many animals it can resort to death of the unborn animal and even to the mother. not worth it.

Just for asking this question, you should have your dog taken away from you! Spay the poor thing and leave her alone!

no absolutley not. the fact that you would consider it shows that you don't know quite enough about genetics or proper breeding standards.
