would you examine the evidence yourself or would you ignore the proof and chalk your support up to faith?

I'd examine it, but I cannot think of how you could disprove my religion. The things I believe on the basis of faith are things that are not really subject to proof in the material world.

Best wishes and God bless.

Well, it is actually impossible to prove that my religion is correct or incorrect. People try to prove it everyday but their so called proof is really just opinion. There is no way to prove or disprove Noah's Flood or anything else in the Bible. There are no witnesses. As a matter of fact, there is more historical evidence to support much that is in the Bible than not. I would look at evidence that was presented because I think it is important to understand what the opposition believes but it wouldn't change my beliefs.

The intelligent or the seeing will obviously examine the evidence for belief or faith is pointless without examination and does not ever reach the heart but lingers in the brain in a short circuit from mouth to ear through nostrils, going around and coming around till the blind "believer" is dizzy with yapping the mouth uncontollably.

The mind thinks but the heart believes, and unless one is logical, the heart never comes into play, and any attempt to swallow the hot air from the mouth will cause nausea and vomitting.

There is a perfect example in Mark 12 28-32, "And one of the Scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the First Commandment of all?"

Funny thing is, Truth is One, and if people were to reason together, at the end of the day, they must arrive at that One Truth.

But when the lies are fused into your brain from infancy, it takes great strength to lift the adult brain out of the darkness.

Amen

Of course I would examine the evidence.

I am quite confident that with all other "proofs" that I am presented that attempt to prove my faith incorrect that I will find unfounded logic, ill-reported fact, or even falsified evidence. That's the history of what I've found so I would most definitely expect it.

But YEAH I'd look at it!

Faith does not demand evidence. If shown something that even remotely looks like it might contradict their faith, and they can't answer it, and nor could their pastor, then they'd chalk it up to either:
- Satan's Evil Trickery And Lies, or
- Who Are We To Think We Can Know The Mind Of The Lord?

You can never kill mindless faith.

loaded question. your real question should be would you turn on GOD. There are things that Atheists and the like have already said Proves there is not GOD yet it really does not. The Bible tells me to believe by Faith because there are things that I could not understand or the wicked of this world will try to deceive people with. SO no matter what proof you think you have the answer is NO ......
I believe by faith.

Will you? 5. But haven't the Ten Commandments been changed? Jesus says it is easier for heaven to pass away than for God's law to change. Jesus says: "And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail." Luke 16:17. God says: "My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips." Psalms 89:34. Notice, the Ten Commandments came from His lips. Exodus 20:1 says, "And God spake all these words, saying ... [the Ten Commandments follow in verses 2-17]." Answer: No, indeed! It is utterly impossible for any of God's moral law ever to change. All Ten Commandments are binding today. 6. Did the apostles keep the Sabbath? Paul and the other apostles kept God's seventh-day Sabbath holy. "And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures." Acts 17:2. "Paul and his company ... went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down." Acts 13:13, 14. "And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither." Acts 16:13. "And he [Paul] reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks." Acts 18:4.
Answer: Yes, the book of Acts makes it clear that Paul and the early church kept the Sabbath.

I'd examine the evidence with a skeptical eye. I am not a dumb person, so if I believe it, it is with reason. Therefore I would be suprised if my choice was a bad one, I'm usually pretty good at the whole discernment thing lol.

Very good question and after reading all the answers so far, you did find a middle road that brought out opinions from all sides. Keep up the good concepts.

Now my view:

Yes I would consider the evidence because I am the first to admit that I may be wrong. You see I do accept the fact that I could be walking blind with closed ears and that I do not want. I am of the opinion one must walk by faith but not blind faith.

Faith must be anchored to a solid foundation and be supported by evidence. No one can ever convince me that a suicide bomber has no faith. He is willing to give up what most consider to be of the greatest value to humankind because of his faith. However is his faith based upon knowledge or is it blind? By this I mean is it based upon pure constantly consistent truth or is it based upon lies that he accepts as the truth. Where did he find the evidence that what he is doing is the right thing to do? Was that evidence supported by truth or by only words from another of the same humankind? Did that other humankind have a motive for saying what he is saying? If the concept of being a suicide bomber is so great why are not the teachers of such the first ones to do it and thus be truly leaders. [ha ha Good Luck]. Those teachers would never blow themselves up because if they did their lies would stop.

In my opinion truth, constantly consistent truth is always begging to be tested. In testing if pure it will only get stronger and prove its value. Thus in my view all must always test their faith and seek out the weakness of it or the lacking concepts and make the necessary repairs.

For me a great example is in the steering of a car down the highway. One may think he is all lined up but soon discovers that a slight adjustment must be made with the steering wheel to keep the car on the road. I see the same with my faith and the view I have of the basic foundation. [note I did not say my foundation, I said the view I have of my foundation]

I am convinced I am attached to the solid rock, however at times I see I must adjust my view of this solid rock to understand better a current event or experience I have been exposed to. In this comes the minor adjustments likened to the turning slightly of the steering wheel of the car. No I do not go to a different road. I just adjust to stay on the same road.

Now in respect to going to a different road, yes I will consider it carefully. However such a new road must have better factual evidence than I can find written in the constantly consistent bible words in my opinion. Many have talked to me of a new road but they have no rule book except thoughts in the mind and words of another likekind humankind. For me that is not a convincing argument and will be quickly rejected by me.

In conclusion it never hurts to listen up to the point that one can see that the evidence is lacking or presented by unsupported facts. Then it is time to stop listening and to move on down the chosen road.

Just to smile the bible says a dumb *** was used by talking to correct a Prophet and to show him the errors of his ways but the prophet refused to listen. I will listen even if a dumb *** does talk to me because maybe he is being used to correct me ha ha. Maybe My god with His sense of humor sees that birds of a feather do like to be together so He sent a dumb *** to me a Dumb *** in the hopes I would listen.

With that I do hope you are smiling as I am. Now do have a great day OK

P.S. I see Yahoo will not accept Bible quotes directly so they did change the name of the animal used to talk to the prophet . They replaced it with 3 stars. Its ok one can read the bible to find out which animal was used OK'. I do accept the Fact that Yahoo is in control and doing a good job for all.

It wouldn't matter. Belief is regardless of knowledge. In most cases, it is in contradiction to knowledge. Belief is rooted in the way the proposition makes you feel (usually warm and fuzzy). Objective evidence is hard and cold. The human mind is more concerned with feeling comfortable. Which do you think it will always choose given a choice?
