Matthew 4:18-20...18 And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 19 Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 20 They immediately left their nets and followed Him.

There were 2 brothers: Simon and Andrew. Their father, Jonah, was a fisherman. The boys learned their father's trade, but in addition, Andrew left home for awhile to follow a wandering prophet: John the Baptizer. While Andrew was with John (as a disciple), Jesus came through, and John B. pointed Him out . "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" At this point, Andrew started hanging out with Jesus for awhile, and then went and found his brother, Simon. Andrew introduced his brother to Jesus. Sometime after this, both Simon and Andrew went back to their father's fishing business, along with their neighbors, James and John (sons of their neighbor Zebedee).
When Jesus was visiting the hometown of these 4 guys (as an itinerant preacher), He so impressed all 4 of them that they left their family profession to follow Him full time.
This Simon, Andrew's brother, was later given the nick-name Peter ( Petra, or Cepha, meaning Rock) by Jesus.
