Your local United Way can probably point you in the right direction.
You can also check for Area Agency on Aging and the local senior center, all of those places can help you find the resources that would be available in your community.
BTW if the help is for a perscription, call Kmart Pharmacy and talk to them. Kmart has a list of drugs on a Generic plan that are only five dollars a month if the meds you need are on that list.

some community colleges (all the ones in my area) offer free tuition to senior citizens. So look at a community college in your area if you are talking about financial aid for college.
If its for power bills then speak with your power company. I know they don't disconnect elderly citizens power in extreme heat. Also contact your church (where you are a member) for help.

I hope he/she had a job. If so, then they should be eligible for social security benefits. You can call the department of public social services. (It's a toll-free number). But if they didn't have a job, you're gonna be taking care of him/her.
