Don't worry about the ethnicity of a name if you like it. I know several people named Hannah, and only one is Jewish.

I'm sure your daughter will be beautiful and much loved!

Hannah is a biblical name, just because it happens to be in the first 5 books of the Bible which are the ones that the Jewish faith uses, it's still a part of the Christian Bible. Even if you aren't a particularly religious person, Hannah is about the prettiest name out there. I have 4 children but if I had decided to have another (I'm not really that insane though) I would have named her either Hannah or Sarah.

You should name your little girl whatever you want to name her. There are a lot of Hannah's in this world, and not all of them are Jewish. The name itself may have Jewish origins, but people name their children all sorts of things from all sorts of different originations these days that are not always reflective of their own religion or culture. Naming babies, anymore, particularly in the US, has become more of a free-for-all.

As a side note: I know of at least three Hannahs that are not Jewish who have never had a single problem with their names.

Hannah is not necessarily a Jewish name despite it being biblical in usage - I personally think it`s a great name for a girl.
The origin of my first name is Greek ,my surname German - I am neither.

What's wrong with calling her Hannah? The origin of the name doesn't matter. It's what you want it to be.

That's why you should not let alot of people know in advance what names you are thinking of. People cannot help but put in their two cents. Name your baby whatever you want and don't worry about what others have to say.
I though I'd never hear the end of it when I accidentally told my older sis the name I had chosen for my kid, but I stuck with the name and now my sis says she can't imagine him with another name.
