Bad for the teeth and stomach---not tto mention the parents--the childs system will recharge with sugar--and can refuel fo many hours with candy---
NOT A GOOD IDEA AT ALL___
I have two and I have never let them have candy right before bed--except one day of the year(Halloween)--they have to have a little candy that night--its like a tradition!-
To each his own---I guess--But I dont think that any good would come from it!

Not a good idea, unless your kid really enjoys going to the dentist. Aside from the fact that sugar late at night makes a kid hyper before bed, there's the whole 'developing bad habits' thing you probably want to avoid.
If you want to do sweets or a dessert, do it closer to meal time. As bed time comes nearer, you probably want to go with fruit, low-fat milk, or just water. Then, whatever your choice make sure the child brushes their teeth.
Bottom line is, if you want to offer sweets do it earlier so the kid can burn off the energy & calories in the candy. Bad habits are hard to break.

I dont think it's a good idea personally. Why are you giving the child candy at bedtime? That dosent make much sense, try a glass of milk instead it's healthier.

If they eat candy at bedtime the sugars will stay on their teeth all night and work away at decaying their little teeth. If you want to give kids candy in the evening, make sure it's before you brush their teeth for the night.

Not only is it bad for a child's teeth but since you're trying to get the child to bed, giving the child sugar kind of defeats the purpose.

ummm no. suger attacks teeth when te body is resting! unless they brush the childs teeth after the candy, its not a good idea. also this child will want candy every night now because its parents put this habit into its daily routene, its going to be very hard to break! tell them to go to their local dentists and look at pictures of rotten childrens teeth!

I am a dental assistant and any sugar product at bed time is extremely bad for their teeth. If the sugar is allowed to remain on a tooth overnight, it can most definately cause a cavity. Ever heard of "baby bottle rot"? That is the same type of thing.

i really don't think you should give your kid any sweets(drinks too) or anything with caffeine in it before bedtime, or even better not at all! maybe you could convince them to give their child fresh fruit instead--it's sweet, but naturally and shouldn't keep them up. try if you can, but if they won't listen..no big deal. it's their kid. unless of course they complain all the time that their child refuses to sleep, then i would get upset, especially if they deny sugar causing sleep problems.

Not a good ideal. It could keep the child awake. It would be bad for the little ones teeth. You should try fruit instead, someone else mentioned milk.
