I use Olive oil for everything. It doesn't burn and it makes a unique flavor when cooking.

Canola oil cooks at high temperature and has less saturated fats than most other oils.
Canola can be found in all the main grocery stores and is cheaper than olive oil.

You can cook with olive oil just use the light olive oil and save the extra virgin for low heat cooking or on pasta or salads.

Depends what kind of cooking you're doing. Frying requires a higher "smoke point" ( which is the temp at which the oil smokes ) so canola is better.Olive oil has a lower smoke point so sauteeing or on salads is better. Macadamia nut oil is excellent try it sometime it has a higher smoke point than olive oil & is great for cooking & salads. I usually just make a salad W/ as many fresh vegies I can find w/ Mav Nut Oil, Balsamic vinegar, lemon or lime juice, salt & Pepper to taste & grated Romano or Parmesean on top. If you want to add sliced chicken on top that's also great, served w/ a French Baguette.

For general cooking and salads I recommend either canola oil or olive oil. For frying I use a small amount of olive oil combined with canola oil. Frying with just olive oil is too heavy. Both oils are healthful.

I use BOTH kinds of oils for the following foods:
Use olive oil for salad dressings, sauteeing poultry and various meats, dipping with a crusty loaf of bread, sauces, etc.
Use canola oil for baking sweets of all kinds. You don't want the taste of ANY kind of olive oil to come through when you're baking.
BOTH olive and canola oils are very healthy for you and should be used without guilt. Go easy, though...high in calories!!

I prefer the Canola for most cooking projects. Olive oil has a stronger taste to me, and other than Italian foods I don't care for it.

Both are good for different reasons. Olive oil is better for you. But it burns at a lower heat. Also, most olive oil is pressed. Way better for you. Most veg and canola oils are partially hydrogenated and that process and not the oil itself is what sticks to your arteries and veins. But you can cook at a higher heat with it. Whatever you use, be sure you use whats best for your body.

Canola. I know it's really good for you, but I can't stand the taste of olive oil.

It really depends on what style of cooking you are doing.
I use olive oil a lot.. mainly for salads and drizzling.
But I use canola for frying etc.
It would be too expensive and a darn waste to fry with olive oil.

Well,Olive is the best. It has less calories,so that means you wont gain tons of weight. But Canola is gr8 also. Everything is good as long as you use it properly. Why the question? Are you planning to make me a special dinner?haha...
