Probably because people are disgusting in general. Why did Ghandi have mistresses? Why do Hindu priests in the mountains con young impressionable girls into sex and drug parties?
I think Jesus would have something to say to you. Look in John 21: 21-22. Peter was bent out of shape because Jesus foretold of Peter's death. He said "Lord, what about HIM?" (HIM meaning John.) Jesus basically said, "What's it to ya? Don't worry about my plan for John's life. YOU FOLLOW ME." (My paraphrase, you go read it...)
So don't worry about what others are doing. YOU do what is right. There's a saying: "Keep your own side of the street swept." In other words, mind your business, and YOU do what's right.

I don't know why others do it, but I do it because I am a crappy-sinner. I do it because I suck. I do it because I am inehrently bad. I do it because I enjoy living in the moment.
I do it because I am need of a savior. Thank GOD I have one!

They think God died and left them in charge. They won't get in trouble if they just use "God" in what they do.
