I have 5 children so far - all are in gifted or advanced curriculums. They never watched much tv. Instead, I interacted with them directly. Talking to a baby is much more important that shoving them in front of a tv. And, as mobile as a 6 month old, I'm suprised that he's even sitting still to watch a show!
Get some great toys - I personally like Parents & Fisher Price. Play with your son. Talk to him. He'll be more interested in putting things in his mouth anyways. And most importantly, have fun!

Babies under 1 year old shouldn't really be watching TV. Studies show that it slows their learning. Their learning is inefficient.
