It depends on the person... if you feel that you are ready to be in a relationship then go for it... but if you are talking abour sparing your ex from the shame or devastation (or both!) of being "replaced" right away, well, you might want to give it more time... let's say, a month or two?

I would wait at least a couple of weeks. But don't just ask somone out just to have a girlfriend. Only ask then if you truely like them. Don't just go out with somwone because you are lonely. It will end up hurting both of you.
