Both because no alive knows whats on the other side I do believe in Heaven though and because of not knowing sometimes where you will go. I know i don't want to burn in Hell for all eternity. Hell is sometimes here on earth and it's bad enough.

More for the unknown than for possible eternal damnation.

But the real reason I fear death is because I know I'll be separated from all the people and things I love in this world. I know I'm not supposed to fall in love with things here (only with people), but it happens anyways. To know that the familiarity of this life and the proximity of all those people in my life whom I love so much will suddenly vanish is really rather frightening (and depressing) to me...

Additionally, though I may see some of my loved ones again in Heaven, those who aren't saved won't be there. Which means I only have this life to enjoy their company, which doesn't even compare, however, to how depressing it is that they're not saved...

I don't fear death, But I do fear the act of dying. The act sounds uncomfortable at best; painful at worst.

I don't fear being dead because, "It is appointed unto men once to die..." (Hebrews 9:27). We will all die once, but let's look at the rest of the verse. "...but after this, the judgement." What is this judgment which gives me comfort? It is a judgement based, not on works, but on Jesus. Revelation teaches that if a person's name is in the Lamb's Book of Life, then he will not experiance the second death. This second death, according to Revelation, is eternity in the Lake of Fire. Read Revelation chapter 20.

If a person whose name is not in the Book of Life is cast into the Lake of Fire, then what is the disposition of the individual whose name is in the Book of Life? That person, according to John 3:16, will have "everlasting life". This person will spend eternity in Heaven!

So, how does a person's name get into the Lamb's Book of Life? Romans 10:9 tells us that if a person will confess with his mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe "in his heart" (this means to choose to trust) that God has raised Him from the dead, then he will be saved from the second death.

Now, this verse by itself is a little misleading. First, I've taken it
out of the context in which it is found. Second, we have to look at the entire Bible to get an accurate understanding of what God wants us to know. I know of no place in the Bible that tells all there is to know about any particular subject.

What all is involved? We have to understand that we are sinners. "all have sinned" (Romans 3:23). Sin can be defined as anything we think, say, or do that displeases God. The price for sin is death (specifically the second death) according to Romans 6:23. Blood is required to cleanse a person from sin (Hebrews 9:22). You and I are guilty of sin, therefore our blood is not pure and cannot cleanse us. Only the blood of a sinless person will suffice and the only sinless person was Jesus. Therefore, it is only the blood of Jesus that can save us. This is called the "gospel" or "good news".

Finally, a person can know that he is saved from the second death by this next verse. "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." If a person calls on Jesus, he will be saved. But, how can I know that I won't be so bad that I'll loose that salvation? Two verses tell me that that cannot happen:
Joh 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
Rom 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Rom 8:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Note that in verse 38 it says "nor things to come". Not even future things ( this would include future sins) can seperate us from God.

I don't fear it. I know that when I die I will be going home-- to a place where I will be truly happy and be the real me. (My essence is separate from my ego, which is where the personality is formed.) I will be closer to God/dess where I am going. My only qualm with death is that my husband and loved ones would no longer have me around anymore. It sounds conceited, but I know I would be missed, and I wouldn't want to put them through that.

im not afraid to die coz i have my JESUS. damnation is not unknown, it had been revealed to us. fear the Lord, have faith, hope and Love. And why should i fear death in the first place , i wanna be with my God, in heaven angels worship and praise the lamb that was slain. you will suffer no more when you are with Jesus. we had been given free will to choose our eternal destiny, Jesus gave himself and offered His life for mankind to be saved, and for us to be cleansed.. Jesus is the stumbling rock, surely you will fall and stumble when you against Him.. But if you walk with Jesus hold His hand, and ask His guidance, surely you will not stumble because Jesus is our fortress. Without Jesus you will surely feel emptiness

Yes, but I also fear early death because I don't want my children to be without a mother.

I don't fear death. It's a change, and it happens to everyone eventually, so it's nothing to be afraid of.

Do I want to postpone it for as long as possible? Yes, because there are many things I want to experience here.

With cancer, I know I am going to die. But, I don't fear it. Just hate the pain from the cancer. In a way I am happy because I will leave the misery of this existance, and will awaken in the resurrection.

I don't fear death. Being saved by the grace of GOD takes any remaining fear away.

I think its either the Shinto religion or confucianism which focuses on this life, rather than anyother beyond it. It says that time spent wondering about next lifes is time wasted.

I am sorry for any offense this causes.
