Gorbachev is not the antichrist.
Some say it will be a person of middle eastern decent.
I have heard of some guy named Maitreya that could be something like that.

The words "Antichrist" and "Antichrists" appear only five times in the Bible - in two of the Apostle John's three letters in the New Testament, 1 John and 2 John:
Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.
(1 John 2:22, ESV)
Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour.
(1 John 2:18, ESV)
And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
(1 John 4:3, ESV)
Many deceivers have gone out into the world; they do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist.
You will know who he is by the way he finds "miraculous solutions" to very complex problems in the world.

I don't think that Gorbachev was ever considered the antichrist, or even particularly evil, by anyone. He took over a flawed system, tried to fix it, and wound up destroying it (with almost no loss of life or property), to the considerable benefit not only of his countrymen but also the rest of the world. I have the greatest respect for the man, and so should you.

What makes you think that all Christians believed Gorbachev to be the antiChrist?

I never believed that, and I don't know of anyone else who did.

Try this one out. It appears that there may never be peace in the middle east. If anyone appears that has enough juice to broker a peace in the middle east, esp. in Israel/Jerusalem, that guy has enough juice to cause some serious action. Keep a watch out for a seven year peace plan, and then BANG, BOOM!

What say you?

Where art thou?
