yes you can it just takes time and you have to put your self in the cats shoes. you have let the animal teach you how it reacts to things.

Yes. In fact, our male cat will play fetch, and I used to have another cat that I had taught to stand up for treats.
Keep in mind that a cat doesn't think quite like a dog does, and you should be able to teach whatever you want.
Have fun!

Yes! cats are very smart creatures!
All 3 of mine can fetch, lay down, roll over and go upstairs to bed at night or in my case at dawn.
They can fetch with a balled up piece of notebook paper or a light weight furry mouse. Just use the same words and tone, like go get it and keep throwing it, or simple words like lay down, or sit down, not long phrases. A fun persistent manner then reward them w/ petting them or treats they like.

ya sure can. I had a cat who was able to sit, lay down and fetch. Plus, he understood my hand gestures. If he was up on the table, I just had to look at him and point down and he would just get down. He was an awesome kitty. He was bilingual too. My mom would ask him how he was doing, and he would meow. He would meow when you would ask him a question, it was reallly funny.
Awesomest cat man! Miss you Junior!!!

Yes, with a LOT of patience. A friend of mine taught her cats to respond to their names, "shake paws" with others, to speak, play dead, and many other things. It's a little creepy to watch them act like dogs, though. LOL.

I don't think so because cat's are like humans, they have personalities and even bad attitudes when they don't want ot be bothered. They also think they know everything anyway.

Yeah I reckon if they are taught from a young age [kittens].
I always picked my cat up to wipe his paws when he had been outside to prevent paw marks over my floor, now he is a big boy and I still tip him up wipe his paws and he loves it,he purrs away.
But he is so heavy now I have to sit down and hold him to clean them.....................
