Its like "Open up!" as opposed to "Open up in the name of the law!"
It backs the request by the authority supporting it.

That if I don't pray in the name of Jesus then whatever I prayed is nothing. If I'm not feeling well and I ask God to take it away and I use the name of Jesus I am healed. The name of Jesus is powerful. Just even calling out His name when you need help or thankful does things to. Jesus Himself said in John 14:12-14 "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it."
SO like praying without the name of Jesus and without faith does nothing, even so praying with the name of Jesus without faith does nothing. The Lords prayer im not even sure about that. I cannot assume if the word doesn't speak on it because what i say may be wrong. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand why it is like that. God Bless. read the Bible

Well, Jesus didn't end it that way because he himself was praying, he didn't need to end it in his own name. This was just a model prayer, it was like an example of HOW we should pray. He wasn't saying that we should pray those exact same words over and over every time we pray. Matthew 6:7 "But when praying, do not say the same things over and over again, just as the people of the nations do, for they imagine they will get a hearing for their use of many words." Jesus is the mediator between men and God, since he gave his life as a ransom sacrifice and thus paved the way for forgiveness by God. That is why we pray in his name.

Because outside of him, we have no authority to do so before the Father.
It's a good question, but you'll find lots of things in scripture that seem contradictory or invalidating.
But on closer, dilligent, scrutiny; are they really?
We must also remember that this is no ordinary literary volume.
There is a specific way it must be approached.
Chief among these is going over it over and over.
Never say ' I've read it. '
It reflects the mind of an eternal being, therefore eternal in character and fact.
You'll never exhaust it.
Like the psalms which appear to be repetitive.
That's a hint.
That's why it says;
" For ye need not that any should teach you ... "
I don't have it in front of me now and I hate quoting otherwise in this way but, then it says the spirit of truth will guide you into all things.
Take stock in that.
Besides, some things are hard come by and require a time He chooses to reveal them. You may not get it the first time around.
Continue to labor therein.
Hope this helps.

There is a verse in the bible that tells us because of what Jesus did on the cross, we can "come boldly before the throne of grace to obtain mercy". Hebrews 4:16.
Jesus also said, "whatever you pray for in my name, I will surely do it."
Those are a couple of the reasons I pray to the Father in the name of the Son. When I end the prayer saying, "in Jesus name"...it just feels so complete, I guess!

My thoughts are kinda what Jesus was saying, nobody gets through the Father except through Him. I would think to end the prayer with through Jesus name we pray, amen.

Well I am LDS (Mormon) and we pray in the name of Jesus Christ because Jesus is the mediator (1 John 2:1) between us and Heavenly Father.
"...we have an badvocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous..."

Because we are now face to face with the Father we no longer need to pray in Jesus' name but I still do. God looks at the heart and not the certain words we use.

Oh boy. Swedenborg said that the early Christian Church knew that Jesus Christ meant Priest and King. Jesus means Priest and Christ means King. Everything that Jesus does from his priestly office he does in Divine Love and everything He does from His kingly office He does in Divine Wisdom. Jesus Christ is Jehovah God in a visible body. The Son of God refers to the Divine Human form that God won on this earth with combats with the hells.

We pray in the name of Jesus out of respect for Jesus because it is because of Him that we are able to go straight to the Father. Because we are Christians, we belong to Jesus.

The Bible says in the New Testament, "If you ask anything in My name it will be given to you." [John 14: 13 and 14] This is referring to the miracles that Jesus did. If you read it in the Living Bible which uses modern English it reads: "anyone believing in Me shall do the same miracles I have done, and even greater ones....You can ask for anything , using my name, and I will do it , for this will bring praise to the Father because of what I, the Son, will do for you. " [He is speaking to those who love Him and follow Him with true hearts.]
