I run with my lab mutt (6 month puppy) from time to time. She's pretty good. I think any dog should be able to outrun you by leaps and bounds. I had a ridge-back that was clocked at 37 miles an hour. But it you train them well, they won't pull you or get under your feet... Too much. :-)

An old Chinese proverb says that if your dog is fat, you aren't getting enough exercise.

I can't get much running in with my dog because she has very short legs and stops at every tree to sniff.

I used to. It was fun, seeing the mischief they'd get into. They seemed to have a regular route too, unless something caught their interest. Too old to do it now. I don't see how I used to keep up.

My dog zig-zigs like he's drunk and stops to pee on EVERY tree, so no, we don't run with him.
