The first question I understood, but it's a bit complicated, so forgive me for saving it until the end. I'm not sure I understand your second question though, but I will try to interpret your English into mine. I think you are asking:
"Are Chicanos assimilated illegal immigrants from Mexico? Thank you!"
To answer that question, many would immediately say no. Culture is very important to Mexicans and Mexican Americans, and because of such, there are many labels used to describe one's level of "Mexican-ness." Sometimes it leads to prejudice, which makes me very upset.
The word Chicano is a label used to describe Mexican Americans who are proud of their heritage. My grandmother used to hate that word because she claimed that racist white people in Texas would use it because they had trouble saying the word "Mexican." This was a long time ago and now university students use the word as a label to describe their struggles in society.
Mexican Americans are not illegal immigrants! They are American, just like you, except they are more likely to eat carnitas instead of pork chops, or carne asada instead of porterhouse.
Now, Mexicans, REAL Mexicans living in East LA are extremely proud to be Mexican. They have more "Mexican-ness" and while their children go to school to learn English, they raise their children with Mexican traditions.
These children grow up as Mexican Americans. The children are raised speaking two languages, and are able to shift and out of the two cultures. However, it's hard being a Mexican American. The real Mexicans pick on them for being too white, and the white people pick on them for being too Mexican. So, how much assimilation can you find in East LA? Lots. If you know a Mexican American, shake his hand and be nice to him-- or her-- because we all had a lot of crap to deal with growing up!
