Soooo True!!!
If he is so perfect... then why kill by suffocation! He was so powerful as to create the universe in 6 days... Then why did he have to do something as barbaric as kill us with a flood except for those on the ark!!!

It's simple. When you are alive, well, and healthy, do you thank God? Of course not. You claim "I feel great because I've been exercising daily and eating the right foods. It's all through my efforts." But when you get a simple flu, when your head is pounding and your nose is running and you feel dizzy and you want to throw up all the time, what do you usually think? You will think "God help me".
Diseases serve three purposes.
One) It is a punishment for something that humans are doing. For example, AIDS is because of widespread adultry. Sure, you can get around that by using condoms, but has it really helped? Nope.
Two) To show us how human we are. Without disease, we would think that we were invincible and we would turn away from God entirely.
Three) To test our patience. If you have faith entirely in God, you should have enough consolation merely from the fact that when this is all over, you will be rewarded. That is, if you're on the right track in the first place.
Many people have used the "God is a spiteful child" argument, but has he not shown His mercy too? Everything good that happens to you is also to His credit.

Its ok if you feel that way God does not mind.
I know how you are feeling, These thing make me angry too.
For years I wondered how a loving God could allow these things to happen.
Now that I finally see what is going on here I realize that God does not do these things at all. I finally realize that these things are allowed to happen because God does love us.
It is complex and difficult to explain or understand in a limited format like this. If you really care enough to want to understand why this happens I suggest that you get a copy of a book called the course in miracles. This book explains this concept and a whole lot more than I can tell you about in one of these answers without writing a book that no one would read anyway.
Try it, its well worth the effort. I have worn out two copys.
Love and blessings.

Actually, he has allowed us to have to be challenged with diseases, because of our own sin. In the garden of Eden, Adam and Eve had perfection. There were no illnesses; Eve would not have even had to feel pain during child birth. Until sin entered the picture.
Then we had to battle evil, sin, disease, epidemics, birth defects, and all of the illnesses that our own selfishness and irresponsibility causes when we smoke, drink alcohol, take drugs, pollute our environment, and when we stress and are stressed over things that we should give to God, instead.
We are merely having to suffer the consequences of our sinful natures. God never gives us anything that we can't stand. But he will always provide a way to escape or withstand the challenges he gives us.
The Holy Spirit inspired the writer to tell us about Job, so that we could find strength in the fact that even the most Godly man on earth at that time was allowed to be stricken by the Devil, just to prove to Satan that Job would not curse God.
Job was stricken will boils and disease. His family died. All of his livestock were taken. But he never---not once---got mad at God or cursed Him, even though Job's friends urged him to turn away from God.
Faith is the key----not religion. Faith in God. Faith in Jesus Christ.

Let me elaborate on Emily's answer. You don't have to believe this but keep an open mind.
We 'choose' to come to this life, for whatever reason. We have something to learn, or teach, an obligation to take care of, something. We set up before we are born the things that will happen to us in this lifetime, so we can learn the lessons we need to learn so we can go on to the next step - or teach the things we need to in order to help someone else.
Each experience good or bad in life, teaches us something, and even the experiences that happen to us, teach others something.
The 'perfection' you seek, is not obtainable here, we don't 'graduate' to that level until we have passed all the 'tests' here.

God created a perfect world and perfect people, but sin entered the world through Adam and Eve when they disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden. So sin was passed on to all, and death through sin.

There are two plausible alternative answers:
1. God does not like suffering, but in the overall plan, it is a necessary evil to accomplish his ends.
2. God does not exist.

What makes you think He could not change everything in the blink of an eye?
He gave life and he can take it away.
And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I [am] the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. (Gen. 17:1)
[He is] the Rock, his work [is] perfect: for all his ways [are] judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right [is] he. (Deu. 32:4)
And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that [there is] none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? (Job 1:8)
And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that [there is] none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause. (Job 2:3)
Behold, God will not cast away a perfect [man], neither will he help the evildoers: (Job 8:20)
Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. (Phl 3:15)
For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope [and it did]; by which we draw nigh (closer) unto God. (Hbr 7:19)
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle [you]. (1Pe 5:10)
Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. (Rev 3:2)
Can you handle the Truth? We are not perfect nor are our children. Children under the age of 13 and innocent however God reserves the right to have them here or have them with him. It’s not up to you or I where they are but how we take care of them. "For they are but a loan to us for a little while." So do not blame God for your species imperfections. Change your mind and Follow perfection and maybe, just maybe he will hear your words and pleas.

Did you ever read the story of Adam and Eve. It was them who committed the first sin and gave us all pain and suffering on earth, not God. They had a choice and they disobeyed. We are given pain and suffering because this is earth. It is short. It is a test. We need to prove our love for God by staying true to Him. If we can't, then we have willingly chosen hell. We have no one to blame for pain and suffering except for ourselves and we can make good use of it by offering it up for another. (for the conversion of sinners or for the release of the poor souls in Purgatory).
