If you have that old can of spam and don't know what to do with it a meatloaf is a good way to use it up.
But I wouldn't go purchase a can just to add it to your meatloaf recipe unless you are serving it to a bunch of Hawaiians or military veterans that would appreciate it. Just cut down on the salt in your recipe as the spam is plenty salty enough.
Canned meat, yuk and way too salty.

Many people mix hamburger and ground pork to make their meatloaf. Using Spam instead would be fine. I would not add any additional salt to the mix, as Spam has a high salt content.

OH NO!!!!! Spam is terrible for meatloaf. Your meatloaf will be so greasy, loaded with fat and salt, it would be bad. At least for me ,to each his own. I put celery seed or powder, pepper, crackers, onions sauteed lightly first before mixing it in. One or two eggs depending on how big it will be, cracker crumbs, a little ketchup, worchester sauce, and sometimes a little oat bran to make it healthier. Everybody loves it. I vary it too, with different spices and ingredients. Sometimes add chilies to spice it up a little.
