If a person gains an extreme amount of weight in a short amount of time (70 pounds in one year) and holds it for about 4 years, then starts loosing it (by going to a gym, eating right) will their skin ever go back to normal? Or has it been stretched for too long? They are in their mid 20's.

I'm in the same situation. I'm 20, and gained 60 pounds in one year and now that I'm starting to lose weight I have bright red stretch marks and hanging skin. I was watching a talk show and they had girls on with the same probelm, and the guest doctor says that it is based on the composition of you skin of whether it goes back to normal. Best wishes, I know I hope mine goes back to normal.

Depends on your age and how much weight you have gained. Some people have had surgery in order to cut off the extra skin that cannot be firmed, the older you are, the more of a possibility it is.

It will go back.....only in extreme cases of fast extreme weight loss is where the problem comes in. Unless, there are actually certain skin types that have a more difficult time of reducing back. No, I'm not talkin' color either so ya'll don't freak out.

It'll go back, exercise can help too. I lost 60 and I am in my 50's. Had it for 15 years. It shrinks somehow.

It should go back to normal, but there's not counting on stretch marks.

You might have stretch marks. Lose it slowly and maybe you won`t have stretch marks. You are at a good age so maybe you won`t have stretch marks

If they do not lose it too fast they should not have loose skin.
