my best friend is scared to death of my neighbor's dog even though ym neighbor's dog is really nice- any tips on how to make her not afraid

you should try to get her used to the dog.
at first have her stand like 5 feet away and dont try to touch it.
while your holding and petting it and showing how nice he is.
then you can get closer and the next time and do the same thing.
keep doing this until they'll pet it and not be afraid.
if your friend gets freaked out don't force her to come closer.
you coud have her back up a little bit.
you could also play fetch w/ the dog and when the dog comes back to you hand your friend the ball and have her throw it.
(making sure its pretty slobber-free!)
I hope your friend overcomes her fears soon!

some people are afraid of dogs, that's just the way it is. just like some people are afraid of heights and some are afraid of snakes. Think about what you are afraid of and how could someone help you get over your fear. It's not as easy as it sounds. Accept your friend for who she is, it's o.k. that she's afraid. It's a part of life, that people seem to think is a bad /poor quality. In actuality, it's part of what makes your friend special, isn't it ? Sorry honey. I don't have any tips on how to change someones psyche.

Just explain to her that dogs can sence fear and tell her to just go up to the dog put her hand out and say good doggy I'm not afraid of you. This situation happened when I went to a friends party and her friend was afraid of her dog. We used this way and at the end of the day she loved my friends dog! Good luck!

Try asking your neighbor if your friend can come over and meet the dog, that might help.

that's really your friends choice. if she doesn't want to be scared of dogs then you walk her over there and just let her pet the dog. and take thingsslow. if not then don't push the issue
