If you have not tried them, don't say you don't like them. As I am sure you know the correct name is "Escargot", yeah its french but whatever, anyway yes they are freaking delicious, especially when they are baked in an escargot dish with butter.
I highly suggest trying one... it is not like eating a spider or a bug or something, it is a nice "appetizer"
give it a shot, the worst you can do is throw up, but if you try it willingly, bet it will probably taste good, if there is any problems wash it down with your favorite beer.

There are varieties of preparation and they are quite good. The taste of course depends on preparation and cooking but generally the snail meat is a bit chewy (comparable to shrimp meat in some degree)I shall say but they are lovely. Snails are called escargot in Fench. One very, very good escargot was this: it was dusted lightly with flour and fried so the outside was crisp and the inside was soft. There may have be some light seasoning in the flour for flavor but it was great.Another good one was an asian style cooked with coconut milk and with all the spices which made the snail meat wonderful.

When I was young we live in a secluded part of the mountain with no neighbors for miles and miles. We live near a stream and there were some edible kinds of snails in that stream. Since we are practically alone in that area, we were pretty sure the stream is unpolluted and therefore the snails are clean, too. We have a special way of cooking it with a lot of coconut milk plus some wild leafy vegetables and it's a very delicious dish. By the way I live in the Philippines.

You mean escargots? French for cooked snails. Yes I have and all I could taste was the garlic and olive oil they were smothered in. The texture was rubbery, so it was pretty gross.

Yes, I ate them for the first time at a restaurant called Horatio's in Hawaii. They were really good! I haven't eaten them since. They're expensive!

The first time I had them at a seafood restaurant, they were very good. They were cooked thoroughly and I think they were sauteed in licorice or something. The second time I had them at a French restaurant, and I didn't like them at all. They tasted like earthworms smell, and they were not cooked as thoroughly.

i have eaten them, and they are sick! i love all sorts of food and i am not finicky when it comes to exotic fare, but the escargot was chewy and tasted like slimy cartiledge. GROSS! Not even the garlic butter helped!

They are really quite good & if their little shell homes are off putting to you, a good restaurant will be more than happy to remove them from the shells. Worth a try, believe me.
