YES. I can't take my eyes off my two year old for five seconds. Seriously...in the short time it takes me to carry the kitchen trash outside or use the bathroom, he's dragged one of the dining room chairs over to the pass through in the kitchen and has climbed up on the chair and has gotten into any- and everything he can get his hands on that happens to be on the counter. Hand soap, lotion, his brother's clean bottles from the bottle rack, an ink pen, bills...anything. I can't tell you how many bottles of liquid handsoap he's dumped on the living room carpet. When he gets a pen, he has to "draw" us a picture wherever he can find room to...usually one of the walls, the lampshade, etc. We've since learned to keep the counters mainly bare. The scary part is, we don't leave him unattended for long periods at all...I'm talking 30 seconds or a minute TOPS, and he manages to get into this much trouble in that short a time period. He also gets into the linen cabinet and climbs the shelves. We keep a gate in the kitchen doorway to keep him and his brother out, away from the fridge, the hot stove, knife block, etc., and he's currently working on learning to climb over the gate.

Oh ya! This morning I awoke to find about 2 dozen once neatly folded cloth diapers laying on the baby room floor. My dear old son must have at some time throughout the middle of the night, stood up inside his baby crib, and reached for the diapers, tugging them down off of the dresser top. It could be a good thing although, for maybe he plans to start changing himself. What a change that would be.

Yep, that's the nature of a healthy, happy 2-yr-old. Mine just turned two and it's impossible to keep the house picked up, but I try to be understanding and patient about it. What's worse, a messy house or a stifled child?

My daughters were like that until they were about three and a half. That part of it does get better, but the old behaviors get replaced by new ones. So basically just when you've gotten used to things they do, they go and change it all around on you and you are stuck adapting over and over again. Good thing those little munchkins are worth all that trouble! :)

My 2 year old is like the Tasmanian devil. She can destroy a room in no time at all. I am a collage student earning my masters in child psychology and I know that being curios is normal and healthy for any toddler. This behavior shouldn't be punished but redirected towards something that you feel comfortable with him/her getting into.

Yes, oh yes. My 2.5 year old can step into a room, any room, anywhere, and immediately find EXACTLY what he should NOT be getting into. If there's a pile of cool toys in the middle of the room, NOPE, he'll head for the dishwasher, desk drawers, electrical outlet, refrigerator, trash can, purse... whatever.

Everyone's 2 year old gets into everything. That's what 2 year olds do. Trust me when I say that when he or she is a teenager, you will desperately wish for these days back.

Ugh YES!!!!!! my 2 yr old is a little angel/devil, one minute shes sooo cute and funny and laughing and the next she gets into everything....lately shes been obsessed with her hair things and wants to brush my hair and put the hair things in my hair, but she knotted my hair one day, so i wont let her touch my hair anymore, well the past couple of days, she back to getting into the upstairs hall way closet and climbs the shelves to get into things like band-aids..*grrrrr* she dumps hers toys out everywhere, but then doesn't play with them, then she wants, wants , wants and when i ask her to pick up her toys first b4 she gets what she wants, she throws a fit!

Absolutely...children naturally learn by exploring. Things don't change as we get older, there is just less for us to explore.
Think of it this way...someone tells you about this new machine that will wash, dry and put away all of your laundry...are you going to just buy it on their word or are you going to want to try it out first? Now put that on a toddler level...you see mom go in that big thing in the kitchen and get wonderful things out of it like yummy snacks and juice...wouldn't you be curious as to what other kinds of goodies there are to be had?
