They will be uncomfortable, they shouldn't hurt really bad(depending on how out of occlusion you teeth are), but they will be sore, especially when you bite something, so softer foods would be a wise choice initially and when you get a smaller wires. The things you shouldn't eat are: ice, chips, hard candies, gum, etc. I did eat those things when I had braces, but you do have to be careful to not brake off a bracket............you will be just fine, there are millions of people with braces and they are still alive, so just think about the beautiful smile you are going to have when you are done....they are well worth it!!! I have never met anyone that would not wear braces again b/c of the pain alone!!

I had braces in junior high school. There was some discomfort and pain after every visit to the dentist. Just eat soft foods when it hurts. I ate everything and I even chewed gum so the dentist will tell you there is restrictions but I never followed them. Just make sure you brush you teeth really well after eating chewing candies. LOL

I have metal braces. They did not hurt. But everyone is different. The first two weeks I could only eat mash potato. They gave me a sheet with all of the foods I could not eat. I cheat a lot. You will probably lose weight.

It is somewhat painful when they first make the adjustments. I mean really, the purpose is to put your teeth in a different position so this is bound to be uncomfortable. After the first couple months when the major movement is over you will have less and less discomfort. Plan to eat lots of soft stuff for awhile.

I will hurt for a few days, nothing that Motrin or Tylenol won't take care of. You will be able to eat soups, pudding, etc things that are soft and don't require you to chew. You won't be able to eat things that are sticky...things that can pull your braces off...taffy, certain gum etc. Good luck!!

they do hurt at first because of all the pressure and scraping. be sure to get wax to put on the rough spots. don't chew gum or eat sticky candy and be sure to keep a tooth pick with you so no food gets stuck and causes cavities. braces are worth it though!

Start with soft pecks at the lips and paintings your approach up. If he resists, it's time to discover any individual who wont. Courage is one trait of a well mate. If he does not have the braveness to kiss you, then he is not a well determination for a mate. Move on.
