It will not ruin your hair as long as you get a straightener that is ceramic. I can't say that your hair would NEVER be damaged, but from my experience the damage is minimal. I used to use a real iron to straigten my hair and that really screwed things up. Now I use the ceramic straightener, and my hair is healthy and VERY shiny. If you have super curly and thick hair, be sure that the flat iron gets hot enough. It will cost extra money, but you figure you will have this awhile and you should invest in it. I bought one for $50 and it did an OK job, but didn't get very hot, so I still had kinks here and there, but then I bought a Termouline (sp?) from Sephora, I spent $200, but hands down the BEST straightener out there.... Make sure you use some sort of serum before you start straightening like Citrushine or Biosilk.. Good luck! :)

I do not like flat ironing The heat is very damaging. I have curly thick hair as well. To me while it does straighten, I feel I look like a cat licked my head when it is straightened. Curls are beautiful, but you must maintain them. Braid or set your hair at night. Please do not perm your hair. It ruins it, even if you do go to a cosmetologist. Find styles for curls and flaunt your gift!

No, as long as you use a ceramic iron. I have just purchased one online at www.interwooddirect.com. The iron is costly, but it comes with a whole bunch of accessories/clips/combs and two hairsprays! It also comes with a DVD to show you what it does, and besides straigting, it also curls and makes cool things! Don't get fooled by thoes "cermaic" irons that are alot cheaper. They only spray a cermaic coating over the metal plates, which will damage your hair. When I use this iron, it makes my hair super smooth and shiny! I have frizzy and coarse hair, and it fixes my problems. :)

Some great websites to go to is:
www.interwooddirect.com (to buy the iron-called TrueCeramicPro)
www.trueceramicpro.com (offical website)

Hope this helps :D

If you flat iron your hair every single day, yes you'll damage your hair for sure. especially if you're in the sun a lot. Do it every other day instead. Make sure you use hair protection before you flat iron your hair, ex: anti-frizz or spray some conditioning to your hair. Blow dry your hair until it dries first before you use the flat iron.

It will burn your hair if you flat iron it too much. I do this to my bangs every single day, but if you know how to do it right you can still take care of it. There is some special hair care for flat ironing look for it in a beauty store supply near you.

No, flat ironing won't damage your hair as long as you don't overheat the iron so it breaks your hair off. I wouldn't flat iron your hair everyday. I would limit it to 1 to 2 times a week.

A flat iron CAN damage your hair but here are some tips to minimize the damage:

*Trim your hair every 4-6 weeks.
*Get a flat iron with ceramic plates.
*Shampoo and condition with Thermasilk.
*Spray a heat protectant on your hair before flat ironing it.

I don't think that it will harm your hair if you use your flat irons every now and then, but if you use it each and every day it just might cause it to burn or become dry and cause it to break
