I believe outside the mainstream, but I'm open minded. I look to share experience with people with interesting beliefs - or even conventional ones if you're open minded and mature.

Can you tell me what you believe in (or hold sacred in life) without slogans and quotes from the Bible? If you MUST quote someone else, please at least put it in your own words and tell us WHAT THE WORDS MEAN TO YOU.

what i believe in or hold sacred in my life is.....one thing i believe in is that you should never avoid a conversation with a stranger because i might miss a point of view that could change my life or view on life. what i hold sacred in my life is unconditional love and understanding, it make me view everything with greater compassion for everyone around me.

I'm unconventionally close-minded. I feel that our brains are more like filters than sponges being that the use of logic and reason should lean toward single rather than a double minded nature. I don't adhere to the everything is all relative addage. I believe there is an absolute truth and that the truth is provable, infallable and undeniable when considering all the facts presented. Having those facts I have yet to be dislodged from my own stauch regard for what I believe in...some might call it bias or even bigotry but then again...what benifit is there to being bent by just any wind that blows? How confusing is that? Someone might call it arrogance but the truth is...most non-fact based opinions are adopted and not self-formulated or researched. Most concepts are self created delusions of what the truth might or could be. I don't believe I'm ever gonna be that brilliant that I could figure it out myself based on my meager limits and abilities as a human being to understand the complexities of this life or any other but I do believe those answers, at least to some extint have been provided for and as well proffer the entire solution all the way around. It makes sense to me so I believe it and in my love for others I would offer them this same truth for what I feel would benifit them in this life and carry them on to the next. Not that they are wrong and I am right...but that there is truth and there is deception. The two cannot coincide or be reconciled together though they both exist. Love in Christ, ~J~ <><

Can we use slogans and quotes from some place other than the Bible? Or are you saying you're open to discussion as long as it doesn't involve the Bible? The problem is that humans' thoughts and ideas and what we hold sacred are shaped by information we got from someone else.

Here is what I believe, in my own words, but I am including sources below.

I believe that we are here so that God can experience God's self.

God is absolute. In this state there are no contradictions and no relativity. Everything is constant, absolute.

God knows what God is, but the knowing of a thing and the experiencing of it are two entirely different things. For example you know what ice cream is, but experiencing the taste of it is different (and SO much better) than just intellectually knowing that it is frozen cream and sugar.

God created life as we know it so that God could experience God's self in the world of relativity through us, who are each an individuation of the whole.

God does not judge us for our actions (sin, satan and hell do not exist)...after this physical incarnation ends we will return to the spiritual dimension and decide if we want to stay or experience another physical incarnation. This is how we serve God.

So, live life with joy and gratitude and take advantage of the chance to fully experience every event that comes your way.

OK, Bubba... here ya go... I'm going to start with my own, personal definition of 'metaphysics': "The blind leading the stupid into the unknown on a quest for the unfathomable."

Inevitably, someone who takes their metaphysics very seriously, and has not yet conquered self-importance, will ask, "OK... so which are you? Blind, or stupid?" And my answer is "Since I consider myself both a teacher and a student, I am forced to admit to being BOTH blind AND stupid."

So, why would anybody want to listen to someone who is blind and stupid? Well, the fact is that EVERYBODY is blind and stupid. The difference is that I KNOW that I'm blind and stupid... 99.9% of people haven't got a clue that they are blind and stupid. They convince themselves that they know the truth about certain aspects of existence and reality. Delusion.

Belief is irrelevant... what is, IS... whether you believe it, or not. Belief is an insidious mind-killer... it cuts off the mind from consideration of alternative possibilities. The only way for a person to advance (evolve) personally and spritually and personally is to stamp out beliefs like a cockroach... along with misconceptions and prejudices.

Faith is irrelevent... it is no more than magical, wishful thinking.

That's enough for now...

I'm a Christian, but my beliefs are not conventional to the Christian faith.

I don't believe God is creating a race of servants. He created the angels for that. I believe that, in us, He is raising up a family of sons and daughters...or should I say Sons and Daughters. One day, we will reach our full potential, and we will be like God. In other words, we will be on His level. I believe that God created what we think of as "evil" in order to give us the opportunity to learn and grow and mature through experience. I believe that Jesus is truly God incarnate, and that He came to us, not just in order to die for our sins, as conventional Christianity tells us, but also in order to experience, first hand, what it is like to walk as a Man among men. I think He wanted to get to know other humans on their own level, and give us a chance, also, to know Him. Of course, ultimately, I do believe that He sacrificed that flesh on the altar of our salvation...but what else was it good for, if He truly is God?
I don't believe in any eternal "hell" where people are tortured through eternity. I do believe that, eventually, God will remove all that is "evil" from His kingdom, and throw it into the furnace, where it will be completely destroyed. Those people who have lived their lives believing and trusting in Jesus (or looking forward to His coming, if they died before the time) will live and reign with Him in His Kingdom, everyone else (that is everyone who escaped the furnace, nothing that causes harm, including people, will be allowed to exist) will live forever under this new rule, which will be perfect.

OH, and my most unconventional thought...I believe that God is the God of the whole universe. I believe that "the fall" was a cosmic event, that happened on every single inhabited planet at the same time, and that God's appearance, His life, His ministry, and finally His death, which resulted in our salvation, was also a cosmic ocurrence, that happened everywhere at once.

ya i am open minded too but everyone's gotta have their beliefs... including me.
what I believe is that god is the good side of you and satan is the bad. i like to think of it as the little figures, one on each shoulder. the angel/god is your good concious, and satan/devil is your bad concious. I dont quite know what to expect after death, but I dont think there will be a heaven and hell. to me the phrases 'heaven' and 'hell' are feelings. heaven is a sense of pride and accomplishment, basically all the good feelings you have. hell is the opposite. things like guilt and regret. hell is the bad feelings you have. That is what I believe in a nutshell, with absolutely no quotes from anyone other than me.

oh and to jewel_flower, if we got the information from someone else, then how do we know its true? you will probably say faith, but what if you have faith in a lie? as a young child you believed in santa, the easter bunny, and many other FAKE characters that seemed so real. turns out they werent. what are you going to do when god isnt real?

Zen Buddhist.

I believe that a person can only be saved from pain and suffering by his or her own self. I believe that pain and suffering is perpetuated by the belief that a fulfillment of a want or a want disguised as a need will ease suffering. I believe that pain and suffering is necessary for human life to grow in any direction, positive or negative. To me, the idea of heaven is repugnant and stagnating. I believe that inner peace, the true goal of spirituality, can be found by knowing yourself and that living your life in a manner that is whole and peaceful is one of the surest methods of finding the peace within yourself.

Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

How can you not quote the Word of God.
