Delirium tremens or DT's is a medical term used to describe the shaking that alcoholics go through when they stop drinking alcohol. It usually takes a day or two of being sober to start, and can last for a few days, until the body completely detoxifies of the alcohol. There are medications that a doctor can prescribe that will help reduce the shaking.
Hope this helps!
